Our Langkawi Trip – Part 2

Published by zaki under Uncategorized

It was a nice warm sun shiny day in Langkawi (our second day on the island) and we’ve got a lots of place and activities to cover. Off course, after having a simple breakfast in Hotel Awana Porto Malai Langkawi, we blasted off to Gunung Machinchang.

langkawi 1

However, on our way there, we stumbled upon a local small medium enterprise making herbs and gamat.

langkawi 2

So, we droped by and bought few bottles of gamat and “minyak panas”.

langkawi 3

On the way to Gunung Machinchang, we stopped over at a jetty to check on few luxurious boat.

langkawi 7

Finally, we arrived at below Gunung Machinchang and bought ourself 2 adults and 2 kids cable car tickets. It cost us RM40 all together. You need to show your identity card to get the discount. Otherwise, you’ll be charge RM25 per person for adult.

langkawi 4

Waiting for the cable car is not that long because it was a low peak season. We got on our cable car (which can accommodate 6 person). It went up smoothly and in just a few moment, we witness a very gorgeous Langkawi scenery from the cable car.

langkawi 5

There were 2 pit stops for the cable car on top of Gunung Machincang. We couldn’t car less to stop on the first one. We continued to travel further to the summit of the mountain until we reached the second & final station. It actually took about 15 minutes to travel from the bottom to the station at summit of the mountain. We get off the cable car and notice even a more superb spectacular view of the island land and shore. Being up there was just breath taking. We’re roughly more than 750 feet on top of sea level. You can spend your sweet time there enjoying the marvelous view, relax, feet massage, filling your stomach  – there are people selling foods like nasi lemak, various kuih etc and drinks but watch out – the prices are double of what you can get on the ground.

langkawi 6

There’s this pretty well structured hanging bridge on top of the mountains. My kids were really nervous staying very far above the ground.

langkawi 8

But, in order to get there, you need to do a little bit of walking along the forest. Going to the curve-like hanging bridge was easier because you just hike down to it. Exiting the bridge will be physically demanding. You need to walked upwards anti gravity. If you got astma, or if you’re old or very young, there are few benches that you can sit on while absorbing more oxygen to ease your biological respiration process. I have to carry my youngest daughter all the way down and up, luckily I’m still fit – at that time ;)

langkawi 9

This photo was taken while we were traveling down. The cable car that is clearly seen in the photo was traveling upwards to the peak. After getting of the cable car, the walkway will lead to a series of souvenir store. If you like, you can window shop, survey and buy anything that may interest you. For me, the prices varies. There are those items that are cheap and some which are a little bit costly. I bought Langkawi Cable Car sticker which just cost RM2.00, few fridge magnets and key chains.

We did spent some time at the GeoPark, which is the place where the bottom cable car station is located. There are a number of shops – what else – souvenir off course and some lots which sell snacks and beverages. The GeoParrk landscaping is not bad. I wasn’t able to snap some photos because my battery was unfortunately weaken.

After enjoying the cable car ride, the immaculate view of Langkawi and very briefly walked around GeoPark, we headed to Beras Terbakar (Burnt Paddy Field) which was in the midland of Langkawi nearby Padang Mat Sirat. It was the second biggest town after Kuah. After arriving at Beras Terbakar, we did not see any place or event whereby there is any ‘beras terbakar’! To our surprise, it was just a small place like a market where people get most of their daily stuffs there. If you visit Langkawi, if you have limited time, do not bother to check on Beras Terbakar.

langkawi 10

Makam Mahsuri, Snake Sanctuary and Underwater World adventure to be continued…

Super Low Cell Phone Prices at iMobile Plaza

Published by zaki under Uncategorized

Want to treat yourself with the latest cell phone? Visit and check out iMobile Plaza. It’s one of the leading cell phone wholesaler and retailer in the world. Located strategically in Jakarta, Indonesia, it can efficiently serve the Asia Pacific region without hassle.

iMobile Plaza offers hand phones from various major brands which include Apple, HP, HTC, Blacberry, Dopod, Eten, Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, Motorola, Siemens, LG, PalmOne, O2, Benq-Siemens and Vertu. All hand phones are equip with decent description and complete specifications which made it easy for prospects like you and me to go through before deciding to purchase a unit or two.

iMobile Plaza

Today, I registered as a member to get more out of the services and products offered by them. The registration process is simple, straightforward and need no brainer – which is excellent.

I played around with the shopping cart. I selected Nokia N95 8GB (copper colour) without car charger, and they offer it at a staggering price of $551 (RM 1,763) without shipping cost. In Malaysia, a new set of N95 8GB price is hovering above RM 2,000. At the delivery section, they offer three options:

(1) UPS Worldwide Express (3-5 days) – $13.63 (RM43.62);
(2) UPS Worldwide Expedited (14 days) – $4.69 (RM15.01);
(3) FedEX Express (3-5 days) – $ 11.62 (RM 37.18).

So, let say I choose UPS Worldwide Expedited, I need to pay a total of $555.69 (RM 1,778) and within a fortnight (if I’m patient enough), I can get my new Nokia N95 8GB delivered at my door step.

Payment can be made using three methods; credit cards, Western Union, and Telegraphic Transfer/Wire Transfer. However, they only accept credit cards from Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom and United States. I don’t understand why they can’t accept credit cards from other countries and that’s a little bit disappointment. Nevertheless, I hope they can accept credit card payments from other countries later in future.

So, for those of you who can’t pay using credit card, you can opt for Western Union and Telegraphic Transfer or wire Transfer. The only downside is you have to take some trouble to visit your local bank and settle the payment off line.

Let’s check on the new iPhone 16GB. iMobile Plaza offers a superbly attractive price for the revolutionary Apple product. It simply provides us the means to be a iPhone trader in Malaysia. Just look at the price of 1 unit of iPhone – $519 (RM1661) and that’s before the delivery cost. In case you want to purchase more than that, they offer substantial discount:

(1)Purchase 2 to 4 units: $493/piece (RM 1578/piece)
(2)Purchase 5 to 10 units: $ 467/piece (RM1495/piece)
(3)Purchase 11 units or more: $ 441/piece (RM1412/piece)

iPhone 16GB

If only I have a cell phone shop and a good client base, I will definitely get those iPhones to be marketed locally. The insane offer is also available for iPhone 8GB as well.

What if you’re not 100% satisfied with the hand phone? Don’t worry. The “Return Policy” is available for us to return the product within 90 days and immobile will absorb the cost to exchange it. To learn more about this, you can check the Return Policy at iMobile Plaza site. On top of just selling cell phones, you can also subscribe to their free newsletter to receive free updates and promotions.

Our Langkawi Trip – Part 1

Published by zaki under Uncategorized

If I have to choose two words to describe our Langkawi trip, they are “exciting” and “tiring”. I’ll elaborate about those 2 words a long the way.

We went to Langkawi on a nice sun shiny Monday from Kuala Perlis. I would like to thank our good Perlis dweller friends, Pidun + Anis and Shini + Zai for all their assistance in making our journey smoother. Pidun has taken a good care of my Proton Waja, helped me picked up the car from a workshop Kangar (some air cond problem – we thought the gas wasn’t enough) and he also helped us get a Proton Wira to be rented (RM60 per day) in Langkawi. Shini + Zai has taken few hours off from work and drove us from Hotel Putra Palace, Kangar to Kuala Perlis jetty in their new Toyota Innova SUV (remember, our Waja was serviced). At the end of our short vacation, Anis fetched us from the Kuala Perlis jetty and got us to our vehicle. We really appreciate their kind assistance and that shows how valuable a friendship is :) .

langkawi ferry

At the jetty, we opted for the ferry which was just about to leave the jetty. We paid 2 adult and 2 children tickets which cost all together RM62. Alya, my youngest daughter was not charged because she is bellow 3 years old. The ferry left the port at 1 pm sharp and we arrived at the jetty in Kuah, Langkawi roughly at about 2 pm. Handling 4 big luggages alone was quite physically challenging. I carried and dragged the bags into and outside the ferry and then into our rented car. Why were there 4 bags? Because it contained attires for me, my wife and my three kids (+ their drypers!!!) for 2 nights and 3 days. On top of that, my wife always have the tendency of bringing extra clothes in case of emergency. While I was lifting those bags, my wife hold tight of my 3 kids along the journey. It was not easy traveling with small kids (5, 3 and 2 years old) but they’re our life and we do not want to be separated from them. We want to spend all the exciting growing up time with them.

langkawi map

The guy who handed us the Proton Wira key gave us a free useful map of Langkawi complete with various tourist attraction and ads printed on it. It was a very informative piece of colourful paper and it helped us finding the direction to the 3 star Awana Porto Malai Hotel, located at south west of Langkawi island. I recommend anybody who wanted to visit Langkawi to get hold of those information paper+map before coming to the island. You can asked your nearby travel agent for it. (We intended to stay at BayView Hotel at Kuah Town. However the rooms are suddenly fully booked).

apm

The journey to the hotel took us about 45 minutes, 15 minutes longer then the normal duration simply because we entered the wrong road. We’ve to make a u turn and after a while safely arrived at Awana Porto Malai. Checking in was simple and easy because we’ve made a reservation and paid earlier using credit card. They gave us a room at the end of the wing because they don’t want our small kids to be interrupted with their very noisy show at night. I’ll make a special review on Awana Porto Malai Hotel very soon. I’m not going to cover the hotel review in this entry.

awana-porto-malai-langkawi

My cute daughters were amazed with the colourful orchid decor at Awana Porto Malai Langkawi open lobby.
awana-porto-malai

My son can now be trusted to snap photos of us… :)

The original plan that afternoon after checking in the hotel was to go to Gunung Machincang, the cable car is there; OR to visit Under Water World. However, after consulting with the receptionist, we were informed that those two places are closed at 6.00 pm. So, we changed our plan. Instead, we went to the Bazaar at Kuah Town Center. Various items were up for sell and we feel like buying everything. Luckily, we’re still rational. Who’s going to carry extra luggage later when we are going off from the island??? That will be me. So, we restricted our spending to just few basic items such as chocolates, foods, small souvenirs etc. Then, we had a simple dinner at some nearby restaurant. Finally, we returned to our room at Awana, did some review on what we’ve spent and slept…zzzzz…….

Cash spent on day 2:

1. Car renting: RM 120 (for 2 days)

2. Breakfast+lunch+beverages+dinner: RM19.60

3. Ferry fairs: RM62.00

4. air con repair and service (My Proton Waja): RM 100.00

5. Fuel/petrol: RM20.00

6. Various food/souvenirs: RM215

7. Hotel: RM257.76 (888 offer-paid online 3 days earlier)

Total on Day #2: RM794.36

Total spent (Day#1 + day#2) : RM241 + RM794.36 = RM1035.36.

Please refer to Day # 1 – We’re Presently In Kangar, Perlis for the detail expenditure for day#1 :)

As soon as I checked in the hotel, I asked about the internet facilities. The recep told me that they have wifi facilities charged at RM10 per day only available at the hotel lobby. She gave me the hotel wifi password and asked me to test it first, pay later. In our room, we switched on the laptop and found 6 wireless lines available around us. We tried connecting to one which was not secured and ….. you know the rest… we’re connected… That’s why now I’m still online. We don’t need to use the hotel wifi. There are somebody outside there who’re generous enough to allow us to share a piece of their wireless internet. (We save RM10 and I don’t have to go down to the lobby to surf ;) )

I can also witness Manchester United extend their lead by trashing Liverpool 3-0 in front of my eyes.

If you’re a Arsenal, Liverpool or Chealsea supporter, you might want to skip this entry…

I was thinking to watch the Manchester United versus Bolton game at 4 a.m. but I just could not wake up. Too exhausted and sleepy….. However, as soon as I woke up in the morning, I checked on Soccernet.com and saw a very cool and at the same time shocking result.

That means Manchester United is leading by 3 points against their closest rival The Gunners. There’re still 8 games left this season with some crucial games. Let’s just hope that the Red Devil will make end the season at the top.

The Manchester United – Bolton game saw Ronaldo became where the arm bend for the first time and netted two fantastic goal. His free kick was superbly struck that amazed not only the fans but the opponents. I’ll upload the video as soon as it is made available. Keep in touch…

Fine Dine At Hotel Mahkota Melaka

Published by zaki under Food Stuff

First of all, I need to highlight that if we have to pay ourself, we won’t dine at Mahkota Cafe, Hotel Mahkota Melaka. You know what that means don’t you ;) . However, I’m fortunate to enjoy and add some weight during breakfast, lunch and dinner at Mahkota Cafe.

buffet

The buffet poster in front of Mahkota Cafe. Let me read it loud for you… The Mahkota Feast’s Buffet dinner cost RM39.00 per adult. That’s the cheapest deal they’re offering. Who cares…. For the first night there, both me and my wife had a splendid dinner which cost RM78.00 excluding the tax.

buffet 1

I did not capture the photos of the buffet. There too much food if I have to snapped all of them. Instead I took just some of the photos of the marvelous foods we ate that night. We only ate mmmm… I guessed 35% of the various types of food served. We could not handle the other 65%…. Too much of food!!! Those (the photo above) were what my wife took for dinner at the first night.

buffet 3

Those were what I took for dinner at the first night. Just some plain white fragrance rice with some curry chicken, some black pepper prawn, some grilled salmon fish covered with some sort of leave, sweet sour broccolis and fresh juicy chilly squid.

buffet 2

This was what I took for my side dish. Fresh lettuces, some carrots and two cute tiny tomatos with one thousand island dressing. Remember, the dressing has tremendous amount of cholesterol. But, exception for that night…. :)
buffet 4

While we were enjoying our meal, my wife saw few people next to us with sate on their table. So, she hinted me. I understood her signal, so I search for the sate and get it for her. The sate was irresistible!!!

buffet 5

This desert was taken by my wife. She just could not help it. I loved the creamy vanilla ice cream. It was so soft :) that I asked her to take some more for me…

buffet 6

So, she took more ice cream for me plus a piece of yummy chocolate covered doughnut.

buffet 7

Both of us had a cup of coffee with 2 packed of sugar to make it just nice. I think I had two cups that night and after that I was extremely full.

breakfast 1

These are what I’ve had for breakfast on the last day. I forgot to snapped some photos on what I’ve consumed for breakfast on Saturday. I took 3 slices of Belgian cheese, freshly cook yellowish scramble egg, French croissant and a cake covered with mustard.

breakfast 2

This was what my wife had for breakfast on the last day. I let her described about it later… :)

breakfast 3

This was what I had for the second round of my breakfast on the last day. Some red beans, few oven grilled potato wedges, beef sausage, a type of cake with grape tart, a butter to be consumed with a piece of bread, and a slice of meat. Wow…i was very full…

ice cream

Well, for my kids, we just let them enjoy some ice cream that we bought at the Mahkota Hotel shop… he he ;)

Wow… both of us (me and my other half) really put on some fantastic weight… Now, that we’ve back to reality, we need to sweat and burn some calories … :)

p/s: They’ll think I’m a maniac if I consistently snapped photos of all the meal that we consumed… Ada rasa malu juge tu… he he…. dia tu gila ke apa….tak pernah tengok makanan je???
