Top Tips To Praise Your Child

Published by cyza under Friends ~ Family, kids

It is very important to know how to communicate and praise our kids (if you are still single, just read through it because at later stage of your life, you may have your own kids). I have three kids aging from 2.5 to 6 years old and I’m still learning how to educate, communicate and love them.

I would like to share some good tips that might be good for us to praise our own kids. Since children between the ages of two and five are at different stages of development below are a few pointers on how to praise your child on the respective stages:

Toddlers:

- “Nice colouring.”

- “Good sharing.”

- While you are on the phone, say “Good waiting!”

Basically, we must keep it short and always with a positive word with our young ones.

For preschoolers:

- “I love it when you play nicely with your sister.”

- “What a good job waiting for me to help you across the road.”

- “Thanks for the drawing, it makes me happy.”

So, incorporate these simple tips with our child and hopefully we ill get hang of it in no time at all. You can also share this with your brothers, sisters, uncle, aunt, cousin, friends and whoever having small kids. Good luck to you and me :) .

End July Fast Update

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

Wow, It has been a long time since I have “Fast Update”. This will be a brief updates of my present and weekend activities:

1. I won’t be able to be online this weekend because of some “tour of duty” to Sekakap, Mersing. I’m going to be with 100+ students for a camp arrange by their seniors. I’ll be driving a Pajero up there and I hope there will be some wireless or internet connection available for me ;) .

2. There will be a fantastic Flower Parade coming on tomorrow at Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru in the morning. If you are located in JB, Singapore or surrounding area, don’t miss out this spectacular opportunity.

3. I accompanied my wife to J-Card Day in Jusco Skudai and it was flooded with people inside it. It was very difficult to walk when they are 4-7 people in a 1 meter square area!!! Outside the Jusco premise, police are busy giving summon tickets for hundreds of cars parking at the wrong spot. What is the point getting a huge discount when at the same time you’re going to be fined by the police!!!

4. I’m still thinking of a niche research to do for my pH.D this coming semester this December. I hope of getting a good research topic and work on some literature reviews and experimental set up. Any ideas for me?

5. I’ve registered for a webminar conducted by https://mathworksevents.webex.com/. However, I missed the first webminar (no internet connection) and then missed out the second webminar (2 AM in the morning yesterday). I was too tired and too sleepy to attend the free 1 hour webminar about Simulink software (a chemical engineering software).

What about you guys…? What will you be doing this weekend?

It has been almost 3 weeks plus since I switched my blog to this domain. My previous blog has a good Google Page Rank (PR 4) and relatively fair Alexa rank. My Son’s 6th Birthday Today

Yep, to day is my son’s 6th birthday and we are having a birthday party to celebrate it. We were pretty busy preparing for the birthday party. We cooked “Nasi Lemak” (Coconut Rice) and made some sardine sandwiches. I also blew a number of balloons and decorated the house to create happy party mood.

The party began at 5 pm but some of our guess came earlier. The party just ended and we were so exhausted. The happiest person is my son, Ikhwan. He received a lot of presents which include 2 remote control cars, 1 toy army jeep car, an army tank, stationaries, few beautiful colourful t-shirts and some cash as well.

We hanged some decorative for Ikhwan’s birthday party and also some colourful balloons.

We ordered a square Spiderman birthday chocolate cake from a nearby bakery store. Unfortunately, I missed one candle. The store accidentally counted the candle wrongly and gave me only 5 small candles instead of 6.

They don’t look really excited in this photo. Not sure why…but in actual fact, they are played together brutally and noisily!!! Well, they are just a bunch of kids…

Pictures of Paris

My wife went to Paris recently for a week attending a conference, leaving me and my kids back here in Malaysia (suffering). It was her second time in Paris. The first time she was there was in 1998 traveling with some friends from UK via Euro Tunnel. I have also been in Paris for 5 days 4 nights back there in 1998 as well. However, I flew to Paris instead of commuting by bas and train.

Duparc Hotel

This is her hotel room at Du Park Hotel which is located at Montparnasse, Paris. A room in that hotel cost about Euro 90 – 110 per night (RM450 – 550 per night). Du Park Hotel is rated 2 star (Here, with that kind of money, we can stay in a super 5 star hotel). A 5 star hotel in Paris will cost more than Euro 250++ per night (RM1,250 per night). She spent 5 nights in this hotel which is within walking distance to Hotel Holiday Inn, where the conference took place.

Du parc Hotel another angle of the hotel room

We surveyed the hotels in Montparnasse area like crazy before she flew to Paris. From the review in the internet, Du Park Hotel seems to be a reasonably good 2 star rated hotel. So, my wife decided to book a room there. Luckily upon arriving to the hotel she was very glad because the room was very nice and comfortable. The room was just renovated and refurbished. However, the only thing that did not look right is the bright red curtain covering the window.

Disneyland Paris

My wife managed to steal some time to visit Disneyland Paris. She didn’t have the time to visit this very famous theme park 10 years ago. In the other hand, I had visited this park a decade ago and I love it very much. Soon, the time will come when we’ll bring our kids to Disneyland, any Disneyland will do… :)

Minnie mouse

She wanted to snap a photo with Minnie Mouse. However, the crowd went insane upon seing Minnie Mouse and other Disney characters. So, she only snapped a photo from a distance…

Universal Studio

The Hollywood Tower Hotel in Disneyland…

Disneyland Paris fake

Hmmm… not sure about all this sculpture. I’ll let my wife describe it tomorrow morning :)

This is a view from the trademark of Paris – Eiffel Tower.

Another spectacular view from Eiffel Tower

Another different angle of view from Eiffel Tower

This is … which is seen from Eiffel Tower as well.

Also, another georgeous view from Eiffel Tower.

The river view from Eiffel tower as well.

The Louvre Museum inside, with the Pyramid displayed at center. This is the place where famous portraits are displayed.

Original potrait of Monalisa hanged on the wall. I haven’t seen this live. My wife has seen it twice. It is well kept and protected at the Louvre. Visitors generally spend about 15 seconds viewing the Mona Lisa.

A view of Eiffel Tower from the bottom of it. I have been here 10 years ago and was on the first level of it. There are all together 3 levels. We have to use a lift to go on top of it. There are 4 lifts available for us but we need to que to buy the ticket as well as enter the lift. It was really a long que.

Very Slow Broadband Line

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

I used the internet extensively and for that reason I had installed Steamyx line in June 2006. However, recently the streamyx line is extremely slow and it really challenge my patient. I’m not sure what is happening and whether the others in my community is having the same problem or not.

If the problem continues, I’ll definitely seek some explanation from Telekom Malaysia (TM), the service provider of Streamyx. Are you experiencing similar problem? Besides calling the telco company, how do you rectify the problem?

Reacting to Bad Economy

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

Wow… It has been more than a fortnight since I become an educator. It’s really good being an educator. I work at the same place as my wife and we can travel to work together. We can send and fetch our kids together as well. After work, when there’s a need, we’ll drop by at Jusco or the nearby “kedai runcit” (grocery store) at get buy some household consumption. Well, we did that yesterday and we spent a lot on it.

That reminds me on how bad our national economical conditions are right now. We have to spend a lot to get little. We have to work hard to get what we want. Just imagine, almost everything is more than RM4. For example, a box of milk is around RM5.00+, vitagen is RM4.00+, French fries is around RM5-6.00, a packet of cream crackers are now more than RM4.00. Surprisingly, “twisties” (normal size) at Jusco is priced at RM1.80!!!! It was normally around RM1.38 or below RM1.60. So, at the end our groceries was RM260.00 (including a RM79.00 portable staircase, Drypers size L ~ RM30+, my son’s birthday control car ~ RM40).

For average people like me, I felt the burden. What about the burden that is faced by lower income people or family? How can those who earn a mere RM1000 per month survive in this very situation. Oh yes…. they can survive, but they need to cut off everything…and just settle with the most basic life style. Eat only normal rice (not fragrance rice) and 1 or 2 types of side dish 2 times a day. Is that normal? For some maybe yes. But, that is not the kind of lifestyle that a country call Malaysia is suppose to be.

Goods prices are extremely high and it forced me to think on my family survival and our relatives as well. We cannot control the economy or the increase of petrol fuel or the increase of flour or rice… We need to do work more, we need to do extra job to earn more money to survive – Not to taste luxury. Lucky us if we are fortunate enough to get more. Then, we’ll be in the elite class. At least, a minute percentage of the dwellers of a country called Malaysia.

Then what are the strategies for people like us – me and you to overcome the crucial economical dilemma? I was thinking to explore FOREX to earn some extra income… Can I? I don’t know yet. It’s a fluctuating market and I’m not sure whether I’m ready for it. I want to earn some money from the stock market… However, I was slapped terribly when my investment last year stuck in 2 companies just after end of last year economy turmoil. My wife firmly said a big NO to me. It will be very risky to invest at this time. We don’t want our fluid asset flow away from us just like that…

So, now, I concluded that I need to work more effectively and efficiently on the internet (part time basis). I’m earning some good cash from it and why not I try my best to get more and more. I need to make a proper audit on how I conduct my internet business, reshuffle and reorganize my activities to fully optimize it. Hopefully, If everything is right, I hope to earn better at the end of the year. I also need to educate other people to use the internet wisely in order to pick some fruit from it. There are still a lot of people, economically doing not good who we can help and educate them to earn some money from the virtual world.

Conclusion: Learn and use the internet to make money (part time). Don’t get cheated with scams. Live a better life.

My New Issey Miyake Parfume

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

I just bought a new perfume, Issey Miyake. It has been a long time since I used that perfume. When I was working as a process engineer, there is less impact using perfume because of the bad smell inside the factory and plant superseded the nice aroma from my perfume. But now, it is different. I’m working in a new and fresh environment as an educator and there is no more bad smell. I can apply the perfume and maintain the smell until the end of the day.

Issey 100ml

My new 100ml Issey Miyaki perfume. It cost me RM260 minus 10% = RM234.

Free gift / sample

They gave me free small miniature samples of CK and Bylgari perfume :)

Old and new Issey Miyaki

Old (75ml) versus new Issey Miyaki (100ml)

Issey From The Zone

Oh yea… We bought the perfume at The Zon Duty Free in Stulang, Johor Bahru.

My wife also bought a new perfume… She intended to buy the perfume of her favourite brand in Paris, but instead she canceled that plan, and bought it locally… I’ll blog about it later?

What about you? What perfume you are currently using? What is your favourite perfume?

My Updates..

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

I’m sorry for not making a post for a while. This is the continuity of the earlier short post that I made few days ago.

I have been in my new job for 4 days. It was quite a solid pact 4 days as I was assigned a lot of tasks. So far the job is not really relaxing for me but it is still better than my previous job as a process engineer which has more pressure. I realized that my new job as a lecturer/educator requires me to be more discipline compared to my previous job. We have the time flexibility and we must know how to manage it wisely. We cannot misused the flexibility given to us. The beautiful part is i have my own room @ office, and that is so coooool :) . I can control my own aircond. I have my own large working station, sofa, huge rack etc. I just requested for a 2 drawer metal rack to lock my important stuffs, just in case. My wife’s office is just 20 steps away from mine… ;) . Oh yea…we have the magnificent wifi facilities and that means I’m connected to the net all the time…

I need to do some extensive survey on what research I should conduct for my pH.D this coming semester. This is going to be my future because my career will be based on what research niche area I’m indulge in. I need to be an expert in certain area so that I can easily develop that area without competing with anyone locally. If you have any idea what field I should research in, please feel free to tell me. It should be something meddling with chemical engineering > reaction engineering.

The other side of the story…

At the end of my second day in the new job, I sent my wife to Senai Airport because she had to attend a conference in Paris. She’ll be away for 7 days. That complete the worse scenario because earlier, my maid when for her 2 weeks break in Indonesia. So, that means my wife and my maid is not around. That leaves me with my 3 young kids. Well, then come some assistance from Kuantan (my mother and brother in laws). They help me to take care of the little ones when I’m away for work.
Historically, my wife haven’t been away up to 7 days. The most she went away was only 1 day and that was just one time. My youngest daughter miss her terribly and it was not a happy moment seeing her cry missing her mummy. I’m very unlucky to experienced that. She always sleep beside her mummy and when the mother is not around, just imagine how awkward my daughter feel. I tried my best to distract her and also console her until she sleep peacefully to the next morning. Uhh….that must not happen again… Oh yea…my wife, she’ll be back this Wednesday. In the other hand, my maid just arrived yesterday evening and I’m glad she returned back on action. We’ve promised her a 1 month salary bonus when/if she return home… A month of bonus is nothing compared to the cost of replacing her if she never shown up yesterday.

I must be lying if I say I don’t miss my other half. I truly miss her very much same like my kids misses her. She haven’t left us like this before. But in the other hand I have left her like this on numerous occasion before, especially went I work on those Kerteh offshore platforms in the South China Sea. We’ve been contacting each other by SMSes… and also 2-3 times telephone conversation. I wonder what she’ll buy for me from Paris? Do you want to know? I’ll blog about it later.

Previous job chapter….

What happen to my previous work place… Oh…my plant operators were kind enough to bought me a Parker Pen. I haven’t use it yet because surprisingly there is no ink in the pen!!! Maybe they just bought the pen, wrapped it up and gave it to me. BUT the most important thing is that the thought. I missed them and I believed they missed me too… :)

On my last day, my boss arranged for surprise lunch at Kedai Makan Rahmat. I really did not expected that. We enjoyed the lunch but I did not ate very much because I was sitting exactly in front of my boss!!! Kena control babe…. So, although my desire ask me to eat some more, but my right brain asked me to stop consuming more food. Uhhh…. what a waste…..

After lunch, with some assistance from my wife, she helped me ordered 8 pieces of 12? pizza online. It was a lot cheaper ordering online compared to calling them. You should check it out if you still don’t know about it. On top of those pizzas, I ordered “pisang goreng and cendawan goreng” delivery. Oh yea…. there is that service offered in Pasir Gudang – Pisang Goreng delivery. Besides pisang and cendawan goreng, the “stall” offered other foods and drinks for delivery to nearby surrounding area. All those pizzas, goreng pisang and cendawan goreng was courtesy from me… a person who is going to leave the company… I treated my friends, operators, fitters, technicians, store people and others who have been very cooperative to me during my stay at the company.

At 5.30 pm on that Monday (my last day at job), I shook my hand with my office colleagues. But when I shook my hand with one of my senior colleague which has been close to me and mentored me a lot… I felt very very extremely sad. Suddenly I felt so sad that I could not help it. Without realizing, tears dropped while I was driving home leaving the company I served for 3 years and 22 days. It wasn’t a long time but honestly I felt like working at that company for 5-6 years. I’m free from that type of “factory pressure”…

The relationship of quiting my job and the escalating petrol price….

Ha ha…. Very simple… Quiting my process engineering job means I don’t have to travel 100 km a day. My new job is very much closer to my house and I commute together with my wife to work (we work at the same place). That means our petrol bill is significantly slashed even with the effect of petrol price increase recently. Lucky us… :)

OK…that’s enough for the night. I haven’t been blogging for quite a long time…and I’m certainly enjoying rambling tonight. Ops…my 3rd daughter is crying…need to check her out….
