I’m sorry for not making a post for a while. This is the continuity of the earlier short post that I made few days ago.

I have been in my new job for 4 days. It was quite a solid pact 4 days as I was assigned a lot of tasks. So far the job is not really relaxing for me but it is still better than my previous job as a process engineer which has more pressure. I realized that my new job as a lecturer/educator requires me to be more discipline compared to my previous job. We have the time flexibility and we must know how to manage it wisely. We cannot misused the flexibility given to us. The beautiful part is i have my own room @ office, and that is so coooool :) . I can control my own aircond. I have my own large working station, sofa, huge rack etc. I just requested for a 2 drawer metal rack to lock my important stuffs, just in case. My wife’s office is just 20 steps away from mine… ;) . Oh yea…we have the magnificent wifi facilities and that means I’m connected to the net all the time…

I need to do some extensive survey on what research I should conduct for my pH.D this coming semester. This is going to be my future because my career will be based on what research niche area I’m indulge in. I need to be an expert in certain area so that I can easily develop that area without competing with anyone locally. If you have any idea what field I should research in, please feel free to tell me. It should be something meddling with chemical engineering > reaction engineering.

The other side of the story…

At the end of my second day in the new job, I sent my wife to Senai Airport because she had to attend a conference in Paris. She’ll be away for 7 days. That complete the worse scenario because earlier, my maid when for her 2 weeks break in Indonesia. So, that means my wife and my maid is not around. That leaves me with my 3 young kids. Well, then come some assistance from Kuantan (my mother and brother in laws). They help me to take care of the little ones when I’m away for work.
Historically, my wife haven’t been away up to 7 days. The most she went away was only 1 day and that was just one time. My youngest daughter miss her terribly and it was not a happy moment seeing her cry missing her mummy. I’m very unlucky to experienced that. She always sleep beside her mummy and when the mother is not around, just imagine how awkward my daughter feel. I tried my best to distract her and also console her until she sleep peacefully to the next morning. Uhh….that must not happen again… Oh yea…my wife, she’ll be back this Wednesday. In the other hand, my maid just arrived yesterday evening and I’m glad she returned back on action. We’ve promised her a 1 month salary bonus when/if she return home… A month of bonus is nothing compared to the cost of replacing her if she never shown up yesterday.

I must be lying if I say I don’t miss my other half. I truly miss her very much same like my kids misses her. She haven’t left us like this before. But in the other hand I have left her like this on numerous occasion before, especially went I work on those Kerteh offshore platforms in the South China Sea. We’ve been contacting each other by SMSes… and also 2-3 times telephone conversation. I wonder what she’ll buy for me from Paris? Do you want to know? I’ll blog about it later.

Previous job chapter….

What happen to my previous work place… Oh…my plant operators were kind enough to bought me a Parker Pen. I haven’t use it yet because surprisingly there is no ink in the pen!!! Maybe they just bought the pen, wrapped it up and gave it to me. BUT the most important thing is that the thought. I missed them and I believed they missed me too… :)

On my last day, my boss arranged for surprise lunch at Kedai Makan Rahmat. I really did not expected that. We enjoyed the lunch but I did not ate very much because I was sitting exactly in front of my boss!!! Kena control babe…. So, although my desire ask me to eat some more, but my right brain asked me to stop consuming more food. Uhhh…. what a waste…..

After lunch, with some assistance from my wife, she helped me ordered 8 pieces of 12? pizza online. It was a lot cheaper ordering online compared to calling them. You should check it out if you still don’t know about it. On top of those pizzas, I ordered “pisang goreng and cendawan goreng” delivery. Oh yea…. there is that service offered in Pasir Gudang – Pisang Goreng delivery. Besides pisang and cendawan goreng, the “stall” offered other foods and drinks for delivery to nearby surrounding area. All those pizzas, goreng pisang and cendawan goreng was courtesy from me… a person who is going to leave the company… I treated my friends, operators, fitters, technicians, store people and others who have been very cooperative to me during my stay at the company.

At 5.30 pm on that Monday (my last day at job), I shook my hand with my office colleagues. But when I shook my hand with one of my senior colleague which has been close to me and mentored me a lot… I felt very very extremely sad. Suddenly I felt so sad that I could not help it. Without realizing, tears dropped while I was driving home leaving the company I served for 3 years and 22 days. It wasn’t a long time but honestly I felt like working at that company for 5-6 years. I’m free from that type of “factory pressure”…

The relationship of quiting my job and the escalating petrol price….

Ha ha…. Very simple… Quiting my process engineering job means I don’t have to travel 100 km a day. My new job is very much closer to my house and I commute together with my wife to work (we work at the same place). That means our petrol bill is significantly slashed even with the effect of petrol price increase recently. Lucky us… :)

OK…that’s enough for the night. I haven’t been blogging for quite a long time…and I’m certainly enjoying rambling tonight. Ops…my 3rd daughter is crying…need to check her out….

Share and Enjoy
