Pre-Raya Shopping

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

Yes, in just a few days time, about 10 more days, we will meet the month of Ramadhan where all the Muslim around the world will be fasting for 30 days. What would that mean? It means a lot for us. There are a lot of positive impacts for us. However, there are also some negative impact which actually does not originates from the religion, but from the modern lifestyle…

Shopping…shopping…shopping…

Guys, watch out, especially if you are married! I bet you know what’s going to happen. Your wife, your family want to have new clothes, new ‘baju kurung’, new ‘baju kebaya’, new fashion, new ‘t-shirt’, new curtain, new furniture, new this, new that…. and that means digging a hole in your pocket! Personally, for me, we are trying to settle all this new “baju raya” stuff before Ramadhan. So far, we have bought a few new clothes for the family.

Just now, me and my wife went to Plaza Angsana Johor Bahru to buy some of the “baju raya”. We have bought some in the recent UTM Pesta Konvo. After a long 2-3 hours walk, my wife finally make up her mind on one very beautiful black skirt (bought at a corner lot shop on the 3rd floor. It was RM95, but after a great bargained by my wife, we grabbed it at RM73) and bought a nice elegant black blouse (at the first floor open space area. Cost RM75, after persuading the sales girl, we got it at RM65). On top of that, I bought her a gorgeous brooch worth RM69 (but after “minta kurang”, I only paid RM50). My wife is really good at bargaining (tawar-menawar). I’m not a good bargainer. I pity the salesman/woman if we bargain too much. But, luckily my wife don’t have that mercy… he he.. :) So, we can save a lot of RM…

So, for 3 hours, we only get those 3 items  listed above. I looked at some of the baju batik available but there are too expensive. For your info, I rarely buy shirts, t-shirts, clothes exceeding RM50. The only very expensive attire I bought is my original Manchester United jerseys which cost me more than RM 200 ++ per jersey. As a government servant, I need Batik to attend functions. However, nice batik has ‘very nice’ price tag. They are too expensive… Maybe I need to go to Trengganu to search and buy a few later. Hopefully I can get batik which cost more then RM200 here in JB for just RM100 in Trengganu. Or, if you happen to know the place in Trengganu that sell nice almost silk (not 100% silk batik) with cheap price, please notify me… I would like to buy them…

Shopping at Pesta Konvo UTM

Earlier, we have bought our daughters baju kurung (RM20 + RM 25) and surveyed for some other clothes. But, due to time limitation, we were not able to spend more time at the 1 week Pesta Konvo which were flooded with business people selling a lot of “kain-baju”.

Giant Hyper Market

We just bought few groceries and also a bottle of “Almond Landon” cookies. Now that Almond Landon kuih raya is finish already daaa…. That almond Landon cost us RM16 for 100 pieces. It taste good and my wife already plan to buy more there… I was also force to buy a shirt. My wife wanted me to wear a casual brown colour shirt and that cost us RM 29. Ok la tu…

Balance to shop… (Check List)

Ikhwan : A pair of baju Melayu, 2 pants, 1 t-shirt

Marsya: 1 pair of gown dress

Alya: 2 pairs of gown dress

Myself: settle already, Oh yea…zakat Fitrah as well, but in Ramadhan… :)

My wife: A pair of sandles

My house: Paint the internal walls and the gate, Kerepek (Crakers), kuih raya (cookies).

Wan Azizah memperoleh 30,338 undi, manakala Pirdaus mendapat 16,950 undi.

Malaysian Opposition Declares By – Election Victory for Anwar

News: adopted from AFP.

PERMATANG PAUH, Malaysia (AFP) — Malaysia’s opposition declared its leader Anwar Ibrahim had won a “landslide” victory Tuesday in an by-election to return him to parliament after a decade-long absence.

Anwar, who has made a stunning comeback after being sacked as deputy premier and jailed on sodomy and corruption charges, said he was now on track to seize power from a weakened government.

“We declare victory, the margin is very huge,” said Tian Chua, information chief of Anwar’s Keadilan party which leads a three-member opposition alliance.

“I think it’s a landslide victory,”.

Chua said that with half of the vote counted, Anwar had garnered at least 65 percent of the ballots and that the figure could rise as high as 70 percent once all the 38,144 votes cast were tallied.

Early results from the official count showed Anwar had won 12,748 votes, against 5,380 for his opponent from the Barisan Nasional coalition, which has dominated Malaysian politics for half a century.

Anwar said he had outgunned the government despite a “sickening” campaign that focused on new sodomy allegations against him, and was marred by allegations of vote-buying and electoral fraud.

The opposition has also accused the coalition of attempting to undermine Anwar by stoking tensions between Muslim Malays who dominate the population, and minority ethnic Chinese and Indian citizens.

“This is a clear indication that people of all races have rejected the communal politics of Barisan Nasional. It is a clear endorsement of our reform agenda. We are on track to take over the government,” he told AFP.

Anwar had been widely expected to win back his old seat of Permatang Pauh, which was held by his wife during his political exile. She stood aside last month to allow him to contest, after a ban on holding public office expired.

However, political pundits had said that the coalition’s no-holds-barred campaign could have impacted on Anwar’s winning margin, which will be seen as an indicator of his ability to shrug off the sodomy charges.

Analysts said that even after he returns to parliament as the formal leader of a three-member opposition alliance, Anwar faces further daunting hurdles including a looming trial on the new sodomy allegations.

The opposition leader has said that the charges, levelled by a 23-year-old male aide, have been concocted by the government to thwart his ambitions of seizing power with the help of defecting lawmakers.

His original sodomy conviction was overturned by the nation’s highest court in 2004, allowing him to go free after spending six years in jail.

He then spent several years behind the scenes, before storming back onto the political stage at the helm of a reinvigorated opposition.

In March general elections the opposition alliance seized control of five states and a third of parliamentary seats, in an unprecedented result which shook the coalition and put Anwar within striking distance of seizing power.

He needs to secure the support of at least 30 defectors in order to oust the government of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who has faced calls to quit after the general elections debacle.

The ballot in Permatang Pauh was held under tight security, after both sides traded allegations of abuse and attacks on their supporters. Some 4,500 police were deployed to keep the peace.

Despite the focus on the sodomy allegations, Anwar’s star power was apparently undimmed in his stronghold of Permatang Pauh, and he drew big crowds to nightly rallies over the intense 10-day campaign.

“I will vote for Anwar, he represents the voice of the people. God willing, he will win,” said Roslie Ismail, a 37-year-old factory worker who said he was disappointed in the the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) which leads the coalition.

“I have no more faith in UMNO because there’s corruption and abuse of power.”

Keputusan Tak Rasmi Pilihanraya Umum Permatang Pauh menunjukkan yang Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) telah memenanginya. Kita tunggu keputusan rasmi nanti.

**********************************

The result of the election will be announce as soon as the voting is over.

Powerful Handphone But Uses Telco Prepaid?!!!

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

What do you think of a person who uses Nokia N95, or Nokia Communicator, or Apple IPhone, or Sony Ericson K850i, or other powerful state of the art handphone but funnily adopted to a prepaid telco service?!! I don’t mind if the owners are a bunch of kids or a student, but it looks kind off weird if a working person using such expensive handphone cannot opt for a cheaper post paid telco plan? What do you think of that?

Lee Chong Wei Eyes A GOLD for Malaysia

Published by cyza under Sports

Luckily I managed to witnessed a great victory by Lee Chong Wei againts stubborn South Korean single, Lee Hyun-il 21-18, 13-21, 21-13 in the semi-finals Friday at the Beijing University of Technology Gymnasium. It was such an amazing match with both players displaying brilliant skills.

By booking his place in the final, which will be played this Sunday, Chong Wei has pocketed RM300,000 as an incentive from the Malaysian govvernment. If he manages to win Malaysia’s first ever Olympic gold, Chong Wei will received a cool RM1mil.

Before the last four clash here, the record between Chong Wei and Lee was even for this year. Chong Wei beat Lee in the Malaysian Open final in three games.

When they next clashed in the Korean Open, Lee whipped Chong Wei in the second round and went on to beat world number one Lin Dan in a three-game thriller for the title.

Chong Wei is the only Malaysian shuttler still in the fray in Bejing. The other Malaysians all failed to shine.

Saiful Sumpah Diliwat – Saiful Oath to be Sodomized

Published by cyza under Happenings

I just watched Buletin Utama and saw Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlanbersumpah” at the Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan that he has been sodomized by Anwar Ibrahim. The event was not announced to the media, but as usual, the media noticed the activity and went to the mosque. It happened just now at about 6pm.

Nearly an hour after the “angkat sumpah” events, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan made a press statement and explains why he has done it. He also explained clearly that he understand the consequences of making the oath.

Now that he has made a very strong move action to stress that he has been sodomized by Anwar, if he lies, he will be doomed by God forever! His life will be miserable and only God knows what will happen to those who created such an embarrassing scene like this.

In the other hand, if Saiful was really sodomized, he has done the right thing. I’m not sure whether Anwar Ibrahim will do the same thing in order to show his innocence.

Bottom line, whoever lies, he will be doomed. He’s a big liar, huge liar. Not only me, but the rest of Malaysia want to know the real truth. We want this conspiracy to stop. We want the truth. We want God to show who is the devil. Wallahua’lam…

*****************************

For further information, check on the following news adopted from mSTAR Online.

“Bismillahirrahman nirrahim. Pada hari ini, 15 Ogos 2008, saya Mohd Saiful Bukhari Bin Azlan, No Kad Pengenalan 850706-01-5687 dengan ini sesungguhnya dengan nama Allah Yang Maha Pemurah Lagi Maha Penyayang berikrar dan bersumpah seperti berikut….A’uzubilahiminasyaitanirrajim. Bismillahirrahman nirrahim. Wallahi…Wabillahi….Wata’alahi.

Bapa Saiful memeluknya, sejurus selesai membacakan sumpah ‘mubahalah’.

Anwar dibebaskan atas bon peribadi RM20,000.

Boring Day…

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

I don’t know what’s happening, but I felt extremely bored. I don’t have the motivation to work. I’m presently online with my laptop and my PC at my office, but I just don’t have the type of drive that I used to have today. What wrong with me? Am I too tired? Not sure… My wife always say that I am continuously exhausted. Maybe I need to consume energy drink on a daily basis.

The fact that there are too much information in the net also makes me feel tired! Too much email coming in, too much information from the blogs, websites and forums. I don’t have the time to go to each and all favourite blogs. I tried my best to visit some of my friends blog and read what they have to offer. I think I have a problem of managing my online interest. I need to prioritize what to view, read and digest.

I bet a lot of us have the same problem but we’re handling it differently. I have a fantastic full time job that need my closest attention. I need to do a lot more reading before classes, meetings, consultation
paper works and research work. We have 24 hours and I’m desperately struggling to manage that limited time. I want to be successful in my career and also my online career. It is not easy being successful in 2 totally different field, but I want to proof that I can do it.

There’s no way of me meddling with another part time business or part time job. No time at all. So, as I write this post, I think I need to really focus on my career as (A) educator, researcher, writer, and consultant and (B) Netpreneur. It is definitely not an easy task but, I hope God will give me all the strength that I require to overcome all the constraint and challenges. InsyaAllah.

Wish me luck, send me “doa”, I’ll wish you luck and send you prayer as well…Adios…Sorry for my nonsense rambling today…

How To Make “Teh Tarik” When You Are Overseas!

Published by cyza under food

Malaysians like to drink “teh tarik” (a tea mixed with condensed milk with some bubble on top of it – I hope my brief simple definition of teh tarik is understandable).

Does the topic sound weird? Well maybe it is, for Malaysians who dwell in Malaysia, they don’t bother to know about this. But, if you live overseas and if you miss teh tarik, I’m going to give you a tip on how to make teh tarik overseas version!!! I studied in UK during my undergraduate and a friend Pakistani friend taught me how to make the so called teh tarik.

The standard operating procedure of making “teh tarik” overseas:

1. Take 2 bags of tea. You can choose Lipton or Boh (if it is available there) or other good brands.
2. Fill your mug with 50% of hot water (you can also use a cup for lower volume/lower capacity).
3. Submerge the tea bags into the mug and allow the colour and taste to evolve from the bag. You can also stir it, or pull the bag in and out the mug.
4. After extracting the tea from the tea bag, add the balance 50% with fresh milk. Now, the mug content is 100% because tea solution (50%) + fresh milk (50%).
5. Then add in just a small pinch of salt.
6. After that, add in sugar according to you taste. If you want to have it sweet, add more sugar and vice versa.
7. Finally stir the tea in the mug. If you dare to “tarik” the tea, then please becareful, otherwise it will spill down and wet your floor OR injure your tender soft hands.
8. Ready to drink – it taste almost 99.5% like our home made teh tarik in Malaysia.

If you don’t have any idea on what is “teh tarik”, check out this video…

What do you think of it? Try it yourself and tell me how does it taste… :) Good luck

My 6 Best Investments

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

I bet all of you have bought a lot of things. Some of them are cheap, some are expansive. Sometimes, there are expansive goods that you bought but you are not entirely happy with it. Sometimes you are really happy with those things you purchased. Well, below is a list of the gadgets and goods that I bought and I’m extremely happy with them…

1. My hand phone

I bought my Sony Erickson K810i last December and I really love it so much. I have been using it to call, sms, video call, browsing the net (when I could not use my streamyx modem), clock, alarm, listen to audio training/seminar (MP3 & 3GP format), watch short clips, snap photos, record videos, and much more… I know there are a lot of other enticing hand phone such as N95 8Gb, N82, K850i and others but I have no intention to switch my current hand phone. It has been such a loyal servant to me and I’ll take care of it as best as I could.

2. My laptop

This is the next best thing for me – HP Compaq. I also bought it last December and I have been using it like 14-16 hours a day. I think it is one of my best investment. I bought it for RM1799 + RM50 to upgrade the RAM to 1Gb. The original specifications are:

AMD Turion 64X2 – 1.9GHz
15.4? screen
120 GB
512MB RAM
WIFI but no bluetooth
Freedos
webcam

I am very satisfied with the performance so far. If there is no problem, I see myself still using this laptop for the next 2 years. The best part is I used my online income to pay the laptop :) .

3. My modem and wireless router

My laptop would not be complete without the support system – the streamyx modem and D-Link wireless router. They have equally perform beyond my expectation. I have no complaints on them. However, I am quite disappointed with the broadband performance. It should have been better if the speed is maintain at higher side. At least 384 Kbs and above… at least…

4. My “Proton Waja”

We bought the New Enhance Version of Proton Waja in October 2004 to replace our Proton Iswara Aeroback. The family is expanding and our economy had improved. We thought it will be better for us to have a more stable, reliable family car. The fuel injection car has shown marvelous performance and incredible fuel efficiency. The suspension and durability is very good and we are truly satisfied. I think it is a brilliant and economical sedan. If you want a great value for money car, opt for a Proton Waja :) .

5. My “Perodua Kancil”

We bought a new 660CC Metallic Silver Perodua Kancil car end of 2005 because I have to travel quite a distance to Pasir Gudang. I cover a distance of 100 km a day going and coming back from work. My Kancil MyGreenOil has been a true companion as I spent at least a minimum of 2 hours a day in it. The fuel consumption is very low and it has further reduced when I applied . Despite of the tragic tragedy which occurred in Feb 2007, my Kancil is still one of my favourite. My wife want to sell it but I insists of keeping it at home :) and use it once in a while. On top of that, the plate number represents my birthdate – Cool…

6. My house

This is the most expansive investment but yet the one of the best for my family. It is a double storey terrace house – 20′ x 70′ with an incredible offer / launching price of RM 117,000.00. To make it better, we bought a lot which faced the playground, the basket ball court, the surau, the field. In other words, our house is not facing another house. We need to add another RM6,000.00 to own this lot which summed up to RM123,000.00. I’m so convince that there is no house of similar type has such a cheap price as that. The market price of it is roughly about RM 180,000.00 and above. I think we were lucky to get this house :) . Furthermore, the ventilation is very good and the house is kept at cooler temperature…

I think those are the 6 best investments I have made… What about you? what’s your 6 best investment? I will pass this question to the following 6 lucky bloggers below:

1. Titan

2. Azwan Hadzree

3. Am StarStreet

4. Zaki Blogjer

5. KNizam

6. Catzer Aweq Jurutera Kimia

Olympic Opening Ceremony 2008

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Photo Video

I missed to watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony 2008 at China because I went for a fantastic dinner with my family. Then, earlier this morning, I read a post about the amazing olympic opening. Luckily, I managed to watched the replay of the magnificent ceremony via Astro. Astro provided 10 channels dedicated for the Olympics and it made me don’t know which one to watch… At one time we can watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony at Beijing, weight lifting, women volleyball, man soccer, women soccer, swimming and other events which I have forgotten.

Check out the superb stadium video:
