November Top Commentators Competition Result

Published by cyza under Top Commentators

The November Top Commentator Contest has reached an end and I’m proud to present the top 10 top commentators:

I have made some changes to the contest requirements and I like it. OK, as for the winners, I would like to officially announce that the first place belongs to farahaznil with 84 comments (that is after I deducted 8 comments which exceeded the maximum 7 comments/day quota). She’ll be receiving a pendrive 4Gb which I will courier alongside with last month cash money that I have not yet given to her (because she’s too young to have a paypal account). Farah, I hope you’ll blog about your victory in your blog and ask your friends to join cyza.us for next December contest.

The first runner up goes to the new blogger in town, Budeen (82 comments). Earlier in the month, I have deleted his “spam” comments and since then he has obliged with cyza.us rules and that’s good. As the first runner up, he’ll received $6. Hmmm… I wonder whether he has a paypal account for me to transfer the money?!!! Do you have a paypal account Budeen? If not, please create a paypal account and let me know your paypal email address. Thanks. Oh yea… I would appreciate it very much for you to blog about your first contest achievement in the net :)

The 3rd runner up goes to Titan with 44 comments. Well done titan, you’ve done it. As the second runners up, you’ll get $4 from me. Please email me your paypal email address so I can send you the money as soon as possible. I know you received lots of money online and this one might be just a small one for you. However, I really appreciate your time and comments in this blog.

For the rest of the commentators, thanks a lot for all your comments. I like them very much. I’m very excited and happy reading all your responses and lively discussion. I hope you’ll enjoy reading my musing and perhaps consider becoming a subscriber to cyza.us.

For December top commentator contest, I have not yet decided on the prize yet. However, I’m considering giving out cash incentives as it is easier to handle and very fast to deliver (if the winners own a paypal account). I’m in the process of calculating how much cash to give out for the next contest… Don’t worry, I’ll make a post on it later.

p/s. Manchester won the derby match and I’m very happy. Let’s just hope the Gunners can gun down the blues later. glory glory Man United…

Scarry – Horror – Terror – Disaster Story

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

I want to share something suspense and scary. It’s not a horror movie or a sadistic story.

Yesterday, we (me and my wife) went to Tabung Haji Kulai to deposit some cash. We have postponed the visit to Tabung Haji for about 1 month already. Well, it’s me. I’m too tight up with a lot of mixed commitment. Yesterday, I managed to squeezed in some time out of my Research Methodology ‘compulsory’ Course to make an effort to go to the bank. We want to deposit some money to our accounts. A small portion of it were our kids recent “duit raya”…

I’m not going to reveal the amount of cash deposited but I’ll just show you the money (check out the photo below). If you are wandering how much, why not make a wild guess how much was that? Anybody want to guess?

The course I was attending requires us to use laptop, so I brought mine along. I don’t want to leave my precious laptop in the car. Who knows somebody crazy want to steal my laptop!? So, it’s better be safe then sorry. I brought along my HP laptop bag together into the bank.

After all the cash was safely deposited, we went to have some lunch at a nearby KFC which is just a 7 second walk from Tabung Haji. As usual I had a hot and spicy snake snack plate and my wife had 2 piece of hot and spicy chicken as well + some cheesy wedges (no photos here) and we paid by cash! Soon after fully consuming our lunch and collecting the chicken bones in a plastic for the cats behind our house, we hit the road to return for the course (me) and work (my wife).

I drove the car and chat with my wife and Marsya (my daughter) on our way back. Suddenly, I realized that my silky black laptop bag was not in our sight in the car! I asked my wife where is the bag? She said, i was carrying the bag all this while. But, I was not carrying the bag and I don’t remember putting the bag into the car before driving. OMG….OMG…OMG….So where the hell is my bag? It was a total nightmare and I can’t imagine myself without my laptop which contains almost everything…i repeat…almost everything of …. I just cannot say it anymore….

We thinked very hard where the bag possibly have been left. I could not recall carrying the bag out of Tabung Haji, so I asked my wife to call Tabung Haji. She dialed 103, talked to the middle aged female telephone operator and asked for Tabung Haji Kulai number. Then she called and asked the bank officer about my bag. There was some silence before my wife revealed that the bank officer spotted my bag on the customer waiting chairs. The officer asked what type of bag was it and I answered it was a HP compaq black coloured bag.

I immedietly u-turned my car and headed straight away to Tabung Haji for the second time but now for a different objective. Marsya, in the other hand wanted to pee… ops…

So, as soon as we arrived at the bank, I parked the car. My wife went to the bank and I escorted Marsya to KFC and went to the toilet. Well, she’s just a small kid and she wanted to pee. What do you expect…

After doing her businees, we walked out of KFC and met my wife with the laptop bag. Wow… what a relief… Thank God…Alhamdulillah. Both my laptop and the bag are very important to me. My bag contain my pendrives (2) not including the 4 Gb I’m giving away for the November contest, several important documents for my pH.D, research, salary review form etc. And the laptop, you know… is the key to ultimate information gate way.

So, that was it. A scarry story that happened in one afternoon in the month of November 2008. Luckily it was a happy ending… :

Oh yea…slightly after completing the course, we fed the fish in UTM lake with Ikhwan and Marsya :) .

Top Commentators Penalty

Published by cyza under Top Commentators

I’ve been doing some comment audit and found that contest2u have been exceeding the allowable quota and will be deducted by 6 points comments. So, whatever the ammount of comment you see on the right column will have to minus 6. Farah, your deduction still remains 6 as I mentioned in the recent post. Budeen will be allowed to maintain his number of comments because I already deleted his spam comments.

My decision is final.

November Updates III

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

It was quite a very hectic week for me and it’s going to continue like that until Christmas eve. I have to attend several mandatory courses arranged by the university. However, I still want to colour my blog with few updates.

1. I touched 81 kg last Tuesday and I was very shocked. This was partly due to the course good foods. Now, I need to control all the food intake. I also need to avoid sweet drinks. I need to exercise more. The strategy worked and 2 days later I dropped 1.5 kg to 79.5kg. I need to work harder to reach 70kg. Can I do that?

2. Just spent RM500+ in an hour just now. I withdrew my cash, had a simple late lunch with my family, bought 2 pairs of small gold earrings for my daughters and did some small grocery shopping for the week. I scratched my head wandering why the money vanished so fast this days?

3. Just met a long lost classmate in the net and communicated via email and facebook. We were in the same class from 1983-88 in SRK Jalan Pasar 1, Kuala Lumpur. To my surprize, he is a professional photographer based in United Kingdom. His brilliant photos appear in various newspapers and magazines. His appearance was totally different then the one I remembered 20 years ago… But, I’m so glad that he contacted me and I believe we are going to do some catching up… Oh yea… He informed me about SRK Jalan Pasar 1 Facebook and I joined the group.

4. Still wandering the best topic for my pH.D studies. However, I have some proposals that I’m going to further analyze. Surely in the chemical engineering discipline, focusing in the reaction and catalysis engineering which will be closely related to the renewable energy study. Don’t bother if you don’t understand anything about this… :)

5. A second check from TLA arrived and I was suprized. I thought I have already changed the payment mode. I prefer they sending me the money via my PayPal account. The problem now is the time taken to cash in the US$ currency cheque. You’ll know about this if you are used to get cheque(s) from foreign currency. I’m glad Google Adsense payment are made via Western Union and not by cheques as they did before.

6. I’m happy with my CeramicClub business performance. I’ve received the cheques (cashed one already) and also some bonuses which are in the form of points that can be converted to cash. If you are interested to know more about my CeramicClub business, you can visit my previous post “What is CeramicClub – Jutawan Ceramic“. I’m looking forward to expand the business, well of course by doing it part time… ;)

7. Oh…before I forgot, regarding the November Top Commentator Contest, I hate to say this but Farah, at the time this post is made, you lead but I have to say that I’m going to deduct 6 comments from you because there was one day that you made 13 comments. Well, you are only allowed to make maximum 7 comments a day to be counted as the top november commentators. So, again, at the time this post was made, after deducting 6 comments, Budeen leads with 38 comments, followed by Farah 36 comments and Titan 29 comments. Early November, I have deleted some of Budeen’s comment which I consider as spam (around 6 comments deleted if I’m not mistaken). I need to be fair and stick to the guide I made for the contest. I hope all of you understand that… :)

IELTS Course

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

For your information, I have to attend a 5 day course of IELTS. What is IELTS?

In short, it is the abbreviation of “International English Language Testing System“. It is compulsory for me to sit for an IELTS test as soon as possible as part of the requirement for my pH.D studies next year. The IELTS test fees is RM540 if I’m not mistaken. I have taken similar test 12 years ago as a requirement to go to University of Bradford, United Kingdom for my chemical engineering undergraduate degree. I scored 6.5 that time and that’s the minimum requirement. Now, I only have to score 5.0 points because that’s the minimum requirement set for any post graduate students enrolling in the local universities. I hope I can maintain or improve my IELTS score.

For those of you who are not familiar with IELTS, let me just give you a little bit of explanation. As mentioned above, IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It measures ability to communicate in English across all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication.

IELTS has been proven and trusted worldwide to provide a secure, global, authentic and customer-focused test which measures true to life ability to communicate in English. More than 6,000 education institutions, faculties, government agencies and professional organizations around the world recognize IELTS scores as a trusted and valid indicator of ability to communicate in English.

Over 1,000,000 people a year are now using IELTS to open doors throughout the English-speaking world and beyond. The test is taken every year across 120 countries, and is one of the fastest growing English language tests in the world, and sets the standard in integrity, research and innovation.

Ha ha…. the three paragraphs above are not my own words. They are adopted from ielts.org – the official IELTS website. For your info, there is no pass or fail for IELTS. They give us a band score and it range from 1 to 9. That means, if one get a band of 9.0, he or she is damn powerful in English.

Then what about 1119 which some students are also taking? I’ll let that be a mystery for you for the time being. If you are dilligent, you can google some information. I scored P7 for my English 1119 15 years ago… :)

Setia Eco Garden – Green & Geourgeous

As a proud citizen of Johor Bahru, I ensured my family and I to go to various spots around the city we dwell. Last week, we planned to go to the new Wilayah Pembangunan Iskandar (WPI), but before we reach there, we saw Setia Eco Garden, a brand new housing estate develop under Sri Setia Sdn Bhd. I could not resist the greenery and beauty of the area and immediately diverted to Setia Eco Garden and parked our car. There we grass and water everywhere… water here means pools, fountains, man made lake etc. The area was super cool. We like it a lot. We visited few show houses and they were impressively decorated. My little soldiers really like the place and they were running everywhere. Should we get a house here? Check out the photos…

Top Commentators Blogs Review

Published by cyza under Contest, review

This post is dedicated to the October 2008 top commentators of cyza.us. As promised earlier, I’ll make an honest first impression review on all the qualified blogs and/or the blogger himself/herself.

contest2u

Contest2u is a new blog with a contest niche. It uses a blogger.com platform and has a simple design. Believe it or not, it have only 4 post so far including the first post which is not related to announcing any contest. The first post which was published early October highlighted that the blog is still under construction. I think the owner of the blog has no time to run this blog. Is that so?

farahaznil

Farah, the owner of5sn1.hfk.smksk.08.wordpress.com, is actually a secondary school female student who loves to dwell in various local blogs and offcourse firing comments in a few selected blogs. She blogs in Malay language but attempted to blog in English as well – check out this post. As a winner of last month contest, I was surprised that she does not have a paypal account. Instead she gave me her home address!!! I think you better give me your CIMB or Maybank or Public Bank account so I can straight away reward you with the cash…

titan

Titan runs a very good and informative Malay language blog on various ways to make money online especially via blogging. His blog is saturated with ads and sometimes I felt miserable looking at it. However, his up to date and fresh content acts as a powerful magnet to attract me (and others) to his blog. He has great amount of readership and I believe he has the potential to be very successful blogprenuer. He also provide good pay review which I think is very affordable. Check out his service…

samdaddycool

He is by qualification an architect who happen to be in mad love with business. His blog is written in English (accept for a few post) and as far as I can see he blogs on whatever he likes, just like me. The blog is using a blogspot.com platform but has a cool Google PageRank 1. He has 1 subscriber to date as displayed on his feedburner chicklet. I just notice his batik masterpiece which I think is superbly done for a first timer. By practice and experience, Sam can be a fantastic batik artist. I want to learn from you bro…

KNizam

Knizam.com basically blogs about just anything we wants and he likes. When you see his blog, you’ll know this guy loves to blog big time. I can tell that he’s not blogging for money. He just simply purely enjoys sharing stuff with his readers. On average he publish a post on a daily basis. He has one of the most colourful blogs in town which can be seen from tonnes of photos being displayed. Knizam.com has a good Google PageRank 3 and I believe you’ll enjoy spending your time reading his cozy blog.

Azwan

Azwan recently switched to a new domain which is azwan.my. Why? don’t ask me. He must have his own brilliant mature reason for migrating. He normally blog in English and has fair ammount of ads on his blog. On some day, he’ll blog in his native language. Azwan also blogs on whatever issue he likes and sometimes published good content which will be refered by bloggers like us. He’s now fighting to improve his alexa rank and he told me he want to get his blog to 6 figure rank.

OK that’s it. I hope you’ll be satisfied with the link and some brief elaboration on you and your blog. If you are in the top ten top commentator and I never reviewed your blog…then please check the requirements to be included in this review. If there’s an error made in my side, please notify me.
