Without further delay, I would like to announce the official top 10 top commentators of October 2008.

The Contest Report

It has been an exhilarating full of suspense contest that and I have never imagine it to last like this. For about 30 days, Titan stayed strong as the leader of the contest, followed closely by a young girl called Farah. Samdaddy appeared occasionally in the blog and provided some interesting comments as well.

On the dying minutes, a new contestant came forward to give a sudden challenge. Within a space of 6-7 hours he crazily posted 127 comments in www.cyza.us. Farah noticed the danger 2 hours before the time was out and fought for the first place. Unfortunately, time was not on her side and she was forced to admit that Contest2u is the official winner of the insane October 2008 contest. She lost by 16 comments.

Disappointingly, Titan was disposition from the leader’s sit and drop 2 points to the 3rd place.

At about the same time, my colleague Azwan suddenly posted few comments to locked his position in the 6th place. He haven’t made any comments for the past 30 days, but he sneaked in to grab precious link from this contest by making comments on the last day of October.

Cash Winners

It is clear that the cash winner of $12.50 is “Contest2u” whereas the runner up is “Farah” and she’ll get $7.50. I have checked my Feedburner account and both of became the subscriber on the last day of October, which I believe after getting my contest reminder post. Short Review Winners

After thoroughly inspecting my feedburner account again, I will make a short review for some of the bloggers and not all top ten. This is because, I noticed there are still 3 person who have not yet subscribed by email to www.cyza.us. I will be making the short reviews in a few days time (within 1 week) and if you want the review, please do what is necessary.

Alexa Ranking Effect

Before the contest was launched, my Alexa ranking was 1,736,987 (Early October 2008). After checking it today (1 November 2008), my Alexa ranking had jumped off to 1,476,788. For me, I think that’s a good jump and I’m extremely delighted. I have my blog improved by 260199 points and that counts to 14.98% improvement.

Google PageRank

When the blog started in June, the PR for it is 0. When I launched the contest in October 2008, the PR is still 0. Now, it is still 0. I wonder when can I get PR 1??? I know it can be done with some work like link building etcetera. But, oh boy….sometimes time is what I need to do that… but I have other commitments that hinder me from focusing on improving my Google PR. That’s fine. If you want to help me improve my Googgle PR, you can do that by exchanging link with me. I don’t give a damn what rank you have as long as we can exchange some links, then that’s good enough in slowly establishing my rank.

Feedburner Subscribers

This is interesting. I’m not expecting a mountain of readers to subscribe, but I’m happy to see some improvement in the numbers. I started at 9 email subscribers but at the end of the month, I have 15. That’s an increase of 6 people and a 67% improvement.

Cost of Contest

It is clear that the only direct financial cost for the contest is the cash reward of $20. Both the top 2 top commentators of the month earned that. The rules were not too strict. I only asked to post comments and subscribe to my content. I don’t have to give out money from my bank account or wallet (from my salary). I only have to transfer the money that I earned online and give it back to the community. I never see or touch that money. It’s just in my paypal account and everything is 100% virtual .

Other Cost of Contest

Well, the direct cost besides the cash incentive is my precious time. I belive that apply’s to most of you as well. Earlier in the month, I have more time to spend for cyza.us. However, when it comes to the end of October, I spent less time mainly because of my office job commitment that demands more of my time. I have paper works and research proposal to submit. On top of that I have test, examination papers to correct, reports to read and much more. My office works are still hanging on my head and shoulders but hey…it’s Saturday, I just want to spend 1 hour 47 minutes to make a post here and browse for a while….

Am I going to increase the cash value for the next contest?

I have already allocated a 4GB pen drive for the November Top Commentator Contest (official post have not yet been made). The pen drive, or some like to call it thumb drive is valued between $11-14, depends on where you buy them.

Hmmm… I don’t know yet. I think I might be giving a way cash on top of the pen drive. I have to do some mathematics first before announcing how much cash I want to give away. I will update about it later.

Well, you only need to post as much comment possible for this month and it must be English + you must be subscribing to my content via email (if you have subsribed, that’s fine). I won’t entertain or count any non-English comment. The strategy is all up to you on how to be the leaders…
