Earth Hour Moment Photos

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

I’ve proudly responded to the earth hour moment quest by switching off all the lights and fans in my house accept the TV, Astro, laptops, modem, wireless router. I lighted 3 candles and positioned them in three different locations in the ground floor of my house. I’m not sure yet on the outcome, but I hope we are able to record a significant reduction in the kilowatt consumption. Let’s wait and see.

Integrated Weekend

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Make Money

I got few interesting activities (might not look interesting to you though) to be carried out this weekend. Among them are:

1. I’m preparing a brief proposal for a sub-topic for an environmental impact assessment (EIA) project involving a huge company. I have no expertise in this field but it’s interesting to learn about it. It’s something about electromagnetic force (EMF) and also Flight Path. I assumed most of you have no idea what I’m discussing here. No problem, I’ve no plan to elaborate on this.

2. I’m also preparing for an article related to biomass and energy which is to be submitted in the yellowpages.com. They’ve requested an article from us to be published in their inventory.

3. I’m planing to complete a monograph (research book) prepared collectively by my research group. The monograph will be about gas to liquid conversion. This monograph has been with me since last december and it’s pending for proof reading and later publication.

4. Going to prepare for the earth hour in my residential area. We’re going to have karaoke in front of my house organized by KRT (Kumpulan Rukun Tetangga) committee. The karaoke will commence at 8.30pm and let’s see what the earth hour will look like. I hope to record something using my Sony Erickson K810i handphone. I’m not sure whether it will work but let’s just see.

5. I still hope to fill up the e-form by this Monday for my research grant application. I’m planning to apply somewhere around RM200k for 3 years period. I hope this application will be OK. I was quite disappointed because my recent grant application was rejected. I only applied for RM36k and they rejected me. Is it because I applied for such a small amount?

6. Just watched the movie Quarantine (2008) at home on my wife’s Toshiba Laptop. We haven’t had any idea what the storyline was all about. I did screamed a lot. If you haven’t seen this movie, it’s a good movie to watch because you’ll want to know what the ending is going to be. However, if you have heart attack, please don’t watch this movie.

7. Yesterday night, I watched the movie Leaving Las Vegas (1995) starred by actor Nicholas Cage and Elizabeth Shue. We watched it because of the big names but found the film so slow. I’m sorry to say that I regret watching it. We also watch this movie in the Toshiba Laptop plus my 9 years old multi-media speaker system (with no brand).

8. Tomorrow, our KRT will be organizing sports carnival a.ka.a sukaneka keluarga. We are inviting 2 VIP and they will be served breakfast at my house. I forgot who the VIP were, but I’ll just prepare whatever necessary for the event. We’ll also be participating in some of the games contested.

9. I’m very pleased with the performance of our Ceramic Business Club performance. We are not as aggresive and as active as my younger brother, but we are currently standing at RM1,300 plus a month with extremely minimum efforts. At least we have some extra income to spend or saved. I must admit that I envy my brother’s income which is now close to RM8k. He has achieved 100k plus sales last month and he was challenged to get RM 1 million sales by July. He’s very serious in his business, a good leader and if in case you’re interested to learn about this business, you can rely on him to explain, teach and guide you to financial glory. Marble and Sweet Story

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed. The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised.
That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn’t sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.
Moral of the story:

If you don’t give your hundred percent in a relationship, you’ll always keep doubting if the other person
has given his/her hundred percent This is applicable for any relationship like love, friendship, employer-employee relationship etc., Give your hundred percent to everything you do and sleep peacefully ”

Its Nice To Be an important Person. But, It is more Important to be a Nice Person.”

World’s Oldest Blogger

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

For those middle age and senior citizen out there, do you think you are too old to blog? Do you think that blogging is just for teenagers or baby boomers?

Check this out… Olive Riley, 108, is believed to have been the world’s oldest blogger. She lives in Australia and began her blog The Life of Riley in February 2007 at the age of 107 and made her final post on 26 June 2008 from a nursing home in Woy Woy, New South Wales, complaining of a cough about two weeks before she died at the age of 108. She was born in 1899, and would have turned 109 on October 20. She had posted over 70 entries, as well as several video posts on YouTube. Her blog was inspired by her experience with documentary filmmaker Michael Rubbo who, in 2005, made a documentary about her titled All About Olive.

She also: “read a whole swag of email messages and comments from my internet friends today, and I was so pleased to hear from you. Thank you, one and all.”

Olive’s musing live on at http://www.allaboutolive.com.au and more recently at http://worldsoldestblogger.blogspot.com. Some of his friends says that…

“She enjoyed the notoriety – it kept her mind fresh.”

“What kept her going was the memories she had, and being able to recall those memories so strongly.”

Earth Hour Malaysia 2009 – I’m A Green Guy!

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

I’m already a member of earth hour. Are you? To be a member and to support this event, sign up at www.earthhour.org/malaysia.

Simple message, clear instruction:

Just turn of your lights for one hour at 8.30pm on this Saturday 28th March 2009. That’s all.

My previous and current contributions

All this while, I practice switching off all lights at home and office. I still switch off the lights in my office even though I’m not paying for the bill. It’s purely the awareness. I can do that because I have my own office room. Don’t do this if your colleagues are working in the office. They’ll probably beat you up to death :) .

I also increase the aircond temperature whenever I leave my room temporarily. It’s more energy efficient that way compared to letting the aircond on at lower temperature or switching off the aircond completely. I only switch it off when I’m leaving for home.

I recycle all types of papers by collecting them in a box which I do in office. At home, I’ll pass papers and boxes to my maid. She’ll collect it and sell it to the recycle agent for exchange of a few ringgit.

At home, I use energy saver bulb. Instead of running at 38-40 kilowatts, I employ 5 kilowatts Phillips energy saver bulbs.

To drink hot water, instead of using electrical cattle, I use normal orthodox stove cattle. We use butane instead of electricity because I found it cheaper. A typical 14 kg cooking butane gas tank cost us RM25 at our place and it can last for about 2 months. I’m not sure about the price at your area. Tenaga Nasional (TNB) charge only RM 0.218 for the first 200 units for a house. But the problem appears if you exceed 201 units. The charge will become more expansive i.e. RM 0.345 and for higher units consumed, it will charge more.

If you are consuming more than 201 units, you need to think of a strategy to lower down your electricity usage. You should focus on equipments such as electrical cattle, iron, air condition, standby for TV, Astro, radio etc. You need to know how to optimize their usage and don’t allow them make a hole in your pocket.

Those are just a few of my efforts in helping the earth all this while. I do plan to do more and beyond that. I’m thinking to explore and innovate solar to be more practical and affordable to be used at home.

What about you? Any effort so far? Any initiatives?

Manchester United, English, Ceramic, BASF, Adsense

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

I would like to share few updates on myself and activities that are happening around me.

1. Frustrated on Manchester United’s defeat. I returned from a dinner with chemical engineering students last night to witness Manchester United trashed 0-2 to Fulham. Is it true that other managers are getting tips and tricks on how to beat Manchester United from Rafael Benetez (Liverpool Manager)? Damn!!! Luckily, Chealsea lost yesterday. I hope Liverpool will lost as well tonight.

2. English Class Lesson at my house. My wife will be conducting an English lesson class and the target participants are mothers and housewife in our neighbourhood. This is the first time such activity being held here and we hope everything will be smooth. My wife has been pretty busy preparing for the class last Friday and let’s just see how it will go.

3. I just opened another account for my Ceramic Business. The business has grown fantastically and we had decided to inject a couple of thousand ringgit to expand our business in our quest to gain more stable and sweet profit. My brother’s achievement (who’s still a student but now earns RM7k+/month) has been a direct motivation for us to invest in Ceramic Business Club. If you would like to know more about Ceramic Business Club, you can contact me or refer to Ceramic Business Club page.

4. I’ll be accompanying a number of final year chemical engineering students for an industrial visit to BASF Gebeng tomorrow. The trip is mainly for them to understand and comprehend the plant and process. It will be a day trip and I hope everybody will benefit from the trip. It has been a few months since I entered a plant.

5. Adsense. What is happening to my Adsense income? Although I’m still getting Adsense earning every month, but the ammount and trend is worrying me. It is not as much as what I’m earning before. Are you experiencing the similar problem? Is Adsense dead? Is it going to be the end of Adsense? I would like to hear from you on this… Or is it no longer a profitable program for publishers?

Yuna – Dan Sebenarnya…

Published by cyza under Photo Video

Nice song sang by a sweet law student studying in UiTM. She wrote this song with her friends 2 years ago. Back then, both of them were experiencing frustration in love (according to her story when Yuna was interviewed by Hot FM last Wednesday).

Oh bulan, enggan melayan diriku lagi
pabila,
air mata membasahi pipi
dan lagu2 di radio seolah2 memerli aku
pabila,
kau bersama yg lain

adakah perasaaan benci ini sebenarnya cinta
yang masih bersemadi untukmu
dan sebenarnya ku mengharapkan
di sebalik senyuman mu itu
kau juga merindui aku

ku enggan
berpura pura ku bahagia
ku enggan
melihat kau bersama si dia
oh ku akui cemburu
mula menular dalam diri
pabila
kau bersama yang lain

adakah perasaaan benci ini sebenarnya cinta
yang masih bersemadi untukmu
dan sebenarya ku mengharapkan
di sebalik senyuman mu itu
kau juga merindui aku

pabila kau merenung matanya
ku rebah,
oh
dan sebenarnya…
aku rindu……
dan sebenarnya….
dan sebenarnya….
aku tak mampu……..

Elements of SEO – Wordpress Theme 3 Columns

Published by cyza under Wordpress

I got bored using the old wordpress theme and I straight away switched to a new theme. My new 3 column wordpress theme is called “Elements of SEO” and I love the pure simplicity.

Elements of SEO is a classic-looking, clean, minimalistic wordpress theme designed with typography and SEO in mind. Completely widget ready, this theme has many tweaks:

  1. Custom banners for the home, post, and archive pages that can be easily switched by uploading a new image with the same name
  2. Close attention to special on-page SEO elements
  3. Wide layout for easy scanning and legibility

If you like this theme, get it from alibiproductions.com/html/elements-of-seo.html.

My personal Ads: Join Ceramic Club – Cool stuff.
