Global Chronic Adsense Earning

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Make Money

I believe all bloggers and webmasters having adsense script code incorporated in their sites are mourning silently from a drop in adsense earning. This most popular mega pay per click program has done something which I’m not sure that resulted in very poor click value. My earning from adsense has decreased and I’m not in my online income comfort zone despite still receiving cash from Western Union every month. I know I must do something to overcome this problem. Somebody else out there are still earning adsense income handsomely but why I’m not getting near to them (their level). I’m not sure whether those big guns are experiencing some slight drop, but I believe, they’ll do whatever necessary to at least maintain their monthly adsense income.

I did some trouble shooting 23 days after stepping in April and did some minor tweaking after reading Rohaizad’s and Galadril’s posts. Since then, I smelled and observed a little improvement. However, I think that’s not enough. I need to triple my efforts and I’m planning strategically to boost my adsense income in May. It’s definitely not going to be an easy task. I’m also planning an aggressive marketing attack in order to generate constant traffic to my sites. In short, I’m going to apply a simple experiment. If I’m successful with this “no secret” strategy, I’m going to reveal and share it later (maybe before 2010 appears, depending on how good my adsense is performing).

My goal is to get Adsense equalize my household monthly earning. Can I realize that honourable goal?

Tax & Manchester United

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

How can you associate tax and Manchester United?

Photo taken from soccernet.com.

Maybe you will wonder how much tax the players are paying the British government.

Well, for me, we finalized our tax via e-filing in early morning (3 am) while Manchester United battled Arsenal at Old Trafford. That was the perfect last minute time. Other time won’t be possible because of huge traffic rampaging the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri website. We already worked on the tax earlier on. However, due to my busy schedule attending free courses, we delayed. Yesterday was no excuse. My tax consultant (same like Azwan’s) has urged me to get it done once and for all. At the end, we submitted the form online at about 4.15 am. The government owe me some money while my wife had to pay a couple of ringgit via CIMB which she just did an hour ago. Glad, everything is settled.

Textiles, Senibong, Badminton and Soccer…

We went to Jakel just now. My wife was influence by the ads in the local news paper. Jakel is a textile outlet that has numerous brunches throughout Malaysia. As a guy, I must be honest to say that I don’t like to be in Jakel especially when they do promotions. It’s too crowded and hot! However, here are some snapshots from my sony ericksson K810i which now is not very stable!!!

This photo was taken 2 weeks ago after we brought our kids for a Swim in Kompleks Mutiara, Johor Bahru. We had a dinner and witness the beautiful sunset at Senibong, a famous place to satisfy your apetite. Thanks to the beautiful scenery. You can see Singapore industrial estate from here as well.

This is the Chemical Engineering Faculty badminton team which won the Gold Medal for inter faculty in UTM. We won 3-0 against Faculty of Civil Engineering. I didn’t play in the semifinals and finals because the team already won. However, I felt sorry to myself because my performance is certainly below par. I played badly, not as strong, as sharp and as quick as before. Thanks to my belly which has grown up to size 36!!! The chemical engineering volleyball female team also won gold medal after trashing CICT 2-0. My wife was in the team as well.

This is my brother’s soccer boot. Now, I’m training football as well to play for the faculty senior team. Unfortunately, the schedule is not out yet.

iPhone 3g 3rd Generation

Published by cyza under Gadget ~ Technology

I fancy an iPhone 3G handphone but I guess I rather wait for the introduction of the iPhone 3G 3rd Generation which might be released this summer. Don’t know how much it will cost yet, but I’ll spare some cash for it… Check out the video… I’ll introduce more video soon, thanks to the free courses that I attended before.

NBOX: WE CANNOT be absolutely sure, but the indications so far are that Apple will launch a brand new version of its iPhone some time in the summer, probably in June.

This week, possibly in anticipation of a new handset, it has announced a new version of the software that runs the iPhone, which will give it many more features than previously.

Only techy developers will get to play with it for now, though. Does that mean I shouldn’t bother giving you a preview or advising you to perhaps wait to buy an iPhone, if you can? I think we know the answer to that.

iPhone 3.0 OS, the next generation operating system for the iPhone and iPod touch, comes with more than 100 new features, new applications and the one thing iPhone users have been screaming for for two years – the ability to cut and paste text.

As well as that, you will also be able to copy and paste photos between applications as well as search across the entire information contained in your device, no matter where it’s buried. Lost the street address of you parents-in-law? It’ll find it, whether you want it or not.

A major change will also be support for 3G tethering. This feature will allow you to connect your iPhone 3G to a laptop, to use it as a modem to access the internet. The stumbling block may be some carriers stopping this, but most will simply charge more for it. It’s also going to be a lot easier to type on the iPhone touch screen as Apple has added the landscape keyboard mode to applications, like Mail, SMS and Notes.

You will also be able to send multimedia messages like images and sounds, something the iPhone has inexplicably prevented so far.

A few other more major improvements will be the ability to send and receive files between iPhones or the iPod Touch.

A new wireless ability to play games between two iPhones which will be pretty amazing is set to ignite even more games for the iPhone.

There is also a hint the new iPhone software will let you control to your accessories like equalize the sound in a loudspeaker.

Free review: Sam, An Ebay Power Seller to be…

Published by cyza under review

This is my first review after I announced the Free Review last week. The first blog to be reviewed is “MyWorld, my art, my thought“.

An artist, a trader, an ebayer and a blogger…

I have known Sam virtually in the 3rd quarter last year through his blog. I’m not sure if Sam is his real name or not (sorry bro). I’ve talked to him 2 or 3 times via yahoo messenger and it is fun chatting with him. By qualification, he is an architect and graduated from a university in United Kingdom, just like me. However, now he runs his own business online and offline in Muar, Johor. I have not met him personally yet, but I wish we can drink and chat together anywhere and talk business :) . He is very successful ebayer and will be a power seller soon. He’s also a good artist and express his thoughts via his batik chanting.

8 things about his blog…

1. Sam runs his blog using blogger.com (blogspot.com) platform – samdaddycool.blogspot.com. I believe he’ll get his own domain very soon as he’ll be attending a blogging tutorial class personal coaching with otai blogger – Rohaizad.com this weekend.

2. Samdaddycool.blogspot.com has a stunning Google pagerank 2. His blog Alexa rank is 1,466,025 with average time people stay on his site is around 1.9 minutes a day.

3. I enjoy reading his blog because he share his stories on his business and his daily experiences. I also learned that he enjoys Formula 1 and update his readers on the race.

4. Personally I think he should not reveal his feedburner subscriber in his blog because he has only 1 subscriber. It’s better for him to show the number of subscriber when it reaches 100 or more. It’s good that he has the subscribe by email box/form to ease people to subscribe to his blog.

5. It is very unfortunate because Sam do not have an about page. An about page is a very important because first time visitors will visit to know more about him and his blog. This is difficult to do with a blogger.com platform but it can be done by adding an “about page” link.

6. Monetization wise, he have google adsense, bidvertiser and nuffnang incorporated in his blog. I’m not sure whether this is a good idea. Are they generating good income? There’s no harm adding those ads in the blog, but if they don’t really contribute to your income, it will be better to let them go. Focus on getting massive traffic and adding quality content.

7. In terms of design, I think he should switch to another more attractive blogger.com design theme. However, that’s just my opinion. It’s up to Sam to decide on it.

8. I noticed that the blog archive is not available. It will be tough for interested readers to browse through the site without the archive and labels. I think Sam should insert both archive and labels in his blog.

Conclusion

The above points are just my frank and sincere opinion. I believe Sam knows about it but have minimum time to improve his blog. Remember, he’s a busy businessman. I highly recommend him to get his own domain and hosting, and get everything started from there. He can get his blogging passion to another level with a wordpress platform. InsyaAllah.

Free IT Courses

What I liked about my present job is the opportunity to enroll myself in free courses organized by Center of Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Center of Information, Communication and Technology (CICT). Both centers occasionally organized good courses to help and enhance staffs skills in various aspects.

Today, I attended a 2 day short course – Audio and Visual for Teaching. This is what part of the skill that I wanted to learn all this while. It was the first day and I already learned a lot of things related to audio and visual. At the end of the course, I should be able to comprehend and apply audio – audacity, create and edit videos using a number of useful softwares (open source softwares, off course). I manage to edit a video and upload them to Youtube.com. I also learned to use camstudio, windows movie maker, Ulead software to create videos from my own laptop. I may share some of the knowledge I gained later…

Last 2 weeks, I attended a 2 day statistical course which thought us how to use a software called Statistical Package Social Science. The application is more towards social science statistics (I’m more inclined to engineering statistics) but it’s OK as long as I learned something free of charge.

Next week, I should be joining a 4 days course entitle “Development of Dreamweaver Web”, which specially designed for webmasters. I have not yet received the invitation letter but I’m expecting it to be in my pigeon hole in one or two days.

I’m still waiting for CICT to organize another Adobe Photoshop course so I can learn and apply them easily. I guess I’m lucky to be able to attend all these courses free of charge with excellent refreshments provided.

Now, I guess you might be wandering, am I too free to attend many courses? :)

Is Nokia N97 an iPhone Killer?

Published by cyza under Gadget ~ Technology

I’ve heard about Nokia N97 from my Abu when I asked him on his opinion about HTC Diamond. Nokia N97 has a powerful storage capacity of 32GB, the highest for a hand phone so far and 5 megapixel camera. I’m not sure about the price for Nokia N97, but I reckon it should be around Malaysian Ringgit 3k+. It will arrive in Malaysia this summer.

Is it an iPhone killer? Can’t really tell yet. I’ve seen and touched my brother’s iPhone, but not a Nokia N97 yet. iPhone has a bigger screen which I feel is an advantage compared to N97. In terms of the touch screen sensitivity, some says that Nokia has improved it in the latest N97 compared to Nokia 5800.

Tax & Online Income

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

It’s April and that indicates that it’s time to pay tax (for Malaysians). Earlier, I thought I have made a post related to paying tax. After searching for a while, I could not find that post. Then I realized, I did not make such post, instead I was commenting about tax, specifically about online income tax, in budeen’s report. I did received some response on whether we should pay or ignore paying tax from online income. Take note that I’m just a part time blogger and my online income earning is not that high. It’s enough to supplement some of the household groceries. I concluded that I’m not going to declare anything I earned online because the percentage is too small compared to my monthly earned salary.

Then, I read LiewCF post on Malaysians, Your Blogging Income is Taxable. This is interesting. I mean paying tax for your blogging income. For me, if one is a profesional blogger or not but earn substantial income online, then he or she must pay tax.

It was also interesting to learn that there are several tax deductions for probloggers. The 46 Tax Deduction that bloggers overlook revealed all type of expanses that we can consider to reduce our online taxable income. You’ll be amazed on how the activities and the things that are accountable and qualify for tax deduction. It made me realized that I haven’t kept such a proper documentation of all my online activities. I should keep a decent record of my online activities, resits, bills, etc.

For me, it’s better to pay tax for your online income rather than not qualifying to pay tax. Paying tax illustrates that we are earning good income while inability to pay signify that we are not earning enough yet. Do you agree with me? :)
