Any of you doing Ph.D like me? Any of you thinking of pursuing Ph.D?

It’s good and cool to have a doctorate degree. I have wanted to do Ph.D since 1976. I was lucky that finally I was given the opportunity to pursue my Ph.D in 2009. I am suppose to complete my Ph.D in July 2012 (which is 3 years). However, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I cannot finish my Ph.D under 3 years. I have submitted an application to allow me to extend my study to another semester. So, I am now suppose to complete it before 2012 end.

Have you heard people quoting Ph.D as “permanent head damage”? Maybe some of you have heard that. Is it really true. I say most of the case it happens. Many Ph.D student will feel the pressure and tension of going through their Ph.D life. My wife who managed to complete her Ph.D in 2010 said so. Her Ph.D affected her emotion, feeling, thinking and many more. Luckily she’s still OK.

Ph.D for me is also quite heavy. However, I tried to control my psychology and emotion so that I don’t feel that pressure doing Ph.D. One way of keeping me sane is by indulging myself in stuff that I love and passionate to do. If we don’t have those kind of activities, we can become insane @ crazy!!! Those stuffs, for me are like sporting activities (soccer, badminton, jogging), blogging (in Cyza Sector) and also some business activities.

As I’m presently injured, I cannot play soccer, badminton and jogging that much. So, that leaves me with blogging and business.  Now, I’m focusing more on my business while at the same time try my best to maintain posting in Cyza Sector. This help me to reduce my stress and tension.

Hmmm….one more thing about my Ph.D… I have the privilege to do my research attachment in Newcastle, United Kingdom. Today, as you are reading this post, I am (with my family) flying to Newcastle via Amsterdam. I’m going to be in Newcastle for a period of 2 months. Actually I am entitled to go to any place of my choice for the purpose of supplementing my Ph.D study for a maximum of 9 months. However, I am just taking 2 months out of the maximum of 9 months.

So far everything is fine. However, one thing that I’m worried is I don’t have the accommodation yet for our stay in Newcastle. I just hope we can find a house that can be rented for us for 2 months. Nevertheless, we really appreciate the kindness of Newcastle Chief (penghulu) who will fetch us and also host our initial stay in Newcastle before we get a new home. Thanks Mr. Azizul – Ketua Balai Penghulu Newcastle.

OK, I’ll post more update soon when I have the opportunity. Adios.

Share and Enjoy
