Wednesday Luncheon – Mee Rebus Udang
I was supposed to write and publish this post last week. Unfortunately I was really fully occupied plus with the fact of super poor broadband internet, I can’t work well. Oh…when will UNIFI come to my place?
OK, back to the original story. We had a lunch appointment with our insurance agent. There were few things that requires some clarifications. Hence, she suggested to have the lunch appointment at Mee Udang restaurant at Taman Universiti, Skudai, Johor.
We have not been there, so it is worth trying something new. I ordered Mee Rebus and my wife ordered Mee Udang. When the Mee Rebus was served, I was surprised to see the mi rebus because there is a small lobster (udang galah) semi-submerged on it. Wow…this is interesting. The first impression has really caught my attention. Well, next come the tasting.
Mee Rebus (plus Udang Galah)
Mee Rebus + lobster – closed up and personal… hehe
When it comes to mee rebus in Johor Bahru, everybody knows that the benchmark will be Mee Rebus Haji Wahid. Mee Rebus Haji Wahid is brilliantly delicious and tasty + some croutons added make the experience even better.
This Mee Rebus (lobster) is equally tasty, just like Mee Rebus Haji Wahid in terms of the taste of the gravy. The significant difference is that this Mee Rebus (lobster) has the udang galah. The udang galah taste good despite of some difficulty of cracking it into smaller pieces. Another thing is the egg. The egg which is semi-cooked makes the Mee Rebus (lobster) even better. When I break the yellowish egg york, the hot creamy yellow liquid spread into the Mee Rebus gravy, making it taste more yummy.
I am not a mee eater. But once in a while, I’ll eat this mee rebus. I may come and eat this mee rebus udang galah once every 2 months. Maybe…
The cost of the mee rebus depends on the size of the lobster. What I ate cost RM15 with the size of lobster is A. There are several other sizes but I’m not sure about it and how to order it since our insurance agent ordered and paid for it… haha… rezeki…
If you ask me to compare this mee rebus meal versus Chicken Mandy cuisine, I will say, I may choose to eat Chicken Mandy once a month. That tells you something about my eating appetite… hehe
