New School Bags After Just One Month Schooling!!!

The year 2012 just started and January just ended few days ago. That means my kids have been schooling for 1 month plus already. The interesting point is my daughters’ school bags cannot be used anymore. Marsya’s bag has torn apart while Alya’s bag has several holes at the bottom.

I’m not surprise with Alya’s case because she is still small (standard 1) but at the same time her load are too heavy. There are too many books that she has to bring to school. As a result she pulls/drags her bag on the floor and tar. We only realized that she pulls her bag on the floor on the 4th week of January. Her bag is not the one with the wheels. Her bags was a gift from my parents for her birthday and Alya wants to used it for school. We don’t know the cost of the bag but it seems to be of good quality.

Marsya’s bag in the other hand is also heavy, thanks to the heavy load of the books. She carry her bag all the while but one of the strap could not cope the weight of the bag. It torn apart and as a result Marysa could not carry her bag properly. Marsya’s bag is quite cheap and we do not expect the bag to last until the end of the year. But, we also did not expect for the bag to last for only 1 month!!! The bag cost was RM25.

What is the actual case or issue here?

For us the parents, we think that there are too many books per subject. Just imagine for a single subject, there are text book, activity book and exercise book. The text book and activity book are bigger and thicker. Those books are subsidized by the government. That’s good in one aspect, but in the aspects the students have to carry all these books to school. If there are 6 subject in a day, multiply 3 books with 6 subjects. You know the answer! The cute and tiny students have to carry the bag themselves.

Yes, there are bags that come with wheels, but the school are not flat. There are staircase and there are slops. At some stage the students need to carry the bags and not pull or drag their bag. Poor them.

Our action

We purchased a relatively better and more expensive bag with hope that it can last until the end of the year. If these bags still cannot last till the end of the year, we will allocate some money to purchase cheap bags every month!!! Such thing never occurred to us when we were primary and secondary school students. We will at least use a bag until the end of the year. Some will use the bag for 2 or 3 years.

Let’s hope that this time the bag can be used until they end their schooling this year.

Review of Samsung Galaxy S Advance

Ever since I posted about the top 5 gadgets that I want in 2012, I have been quite interested to read reviews on the smart phones, laptops and other cool new gadgets. I think it is about time I dedicate a day in a week to make a review on some of the selected gadgets (which I’m interested, off course). Hence, I have decided to make Tuesday a Cyza Sector Tech Review day. So, from now on, whenever you read my blog on Tuesday, you will surely read my review on selected gadgets. What do you think of that idea?

For a start, I’ll make a review on the new and extravaganza Samsung Galaxy S Advance.

Samsung Galaxy S Advance Review

It’s been almost a week now since the new “Samsung Galaxy S Advance” had been launched. It is also known as i9070. The date of its release was 30^th of January. Till now the phone has not been seen but according to the reports it will soon be released in Russia and later in the other parts of the world.

Android 4 ICS:

Sadly, the phone comes with “android 2.3.6 Gingerbread” and not with awaited “Android 4 ICS”. It would be upgradable to ICS 4 later after it is made available in the market.

Design:

If you are looking at its design then the phone is of curved shape. It seems like it is the mixture of “galaxy nexus” and the “galaxy S2”.

Copy of Galaxy R:

The phone is pretty much the same as the original Galaxy which showed up 2 years ago, except some features like increased memory, Dual core and updated OS. But the major features remain the same. e.g. 1500mAh battery, 4 inch 480 x 800 display, 5 MP camera and HSPA.

Display:

The phone owns a 4 inch super AMOLED screen with a 480 x 800 screen resolution.

Specialities for the Samsung Galaxy S advance:

Samsung Galaxy S Advance offers a 5MP main camera with 720P video recording. It also offers a front camera of 1.3MP for video dialling etc. The weight of the cell phone is 120 grams which is not that heavy and the dimensions are 123 x 63 x10 mm (approx.). The phone can easily be carried anywhere with you. But if you have a small pair of hands then it might tickle you a bit.

Phone possesses a 768MB of RAM which is quite ok if not the best. It comes with 8/16 GB storage capacity expandable up to 32GB with micro SD card.

Samsung Galaxy S Advance is easy to hold and not too big like Samsung Galaxy Note

It has integrated applications such as the Samsung Touch Wiz, and Samsung Live Panel UX, applications of Samsung which are: Kies 2.0, Samsung Kies Air, ChatON, Readers Hub, Music Hub, Game Hub, Polaris Office, as well as Find My Mobile.

Samsung has not mentioned a price for this phone but it is said it would be 336$. That is a high price for a phone like this. Many other phones are offering greater features and they are being sold at much lower price than that.

Hope so this set will be made available in upcoming “mobile world congress” along with “galaxy S3”. The show will be held later this month in Barcelona. Before that, check out Samsung Galaxy S Advance video below:

My White Proton Exora Service at 84,000km

Last Saturday, before enjoying my home made fried mee, I serviced my white Proton Exora because it is already due for maintenance. I have made an appointment to service my Proton Exora on the previous Wednesday. My friend who is a technician at the service center informed me that I need to replace the timing belt because my MPV already reached more than 80,000km. I was surprised when he informed me about that because I know timing belt replacement is not cheap. He told me that the cost would be more than RM835 (USD$278).

I was the first person that morning to register for servicing. The process was smooth, thanks to the fact that I have been servicing my cars with this service center for the past 7 years. I know them and they know me. I informed the clerk that there are few things that the technician need to check in my marvelous Proton Exora which are the (1) visor’s mirror which the fitting had broken – passenger mirror falls down, and (2) the break producing screeching sound whenever I brake the MPV. The clerk explained to me the detail of the cost (including the timing belt cost). The she said that the entire process will take 4 hours which means that service will be completed at about 12.00 noon .

They started to serviced my white Proton Exora at 8.15 am. I then watched the technician do his job 3 meters apart while reading a newspaper which was provided. Once in while I chatted with the technician and asked few questions about what he was doing.

The consumables and spare parts to be replaced. The new original Proton Exora timing belt is in the box.

The technician entertaining my Proton Exora, Mr. H, is removing the hidden screws to get to the timing belt.

At the same time another technician is servicing my rear tyre. Remember earlier I complained about the screeching sound.

This is the old timing belt, just removed from my White Proton Exora engine body. Looks good to me. No sign of damaged, torn, crack etc.

From what I see, the timing belt still looks fine and can be used. However, since it is recommended to be changed at 80,000 km, I obliged.

I understand that it is recommended to change the timing belt when the millage reach 80,000km. However, from my observation, the condition of Proton Exora timing belt still looks fine. So, for those who drives Proton Exora and will reach 80,000km, it’s totally up to you. If you want to replace the timing belt as recommended, that is advisable (by Proton). If not then the risk is yours. I just hope more Proton Exora owners can share their experience on the exact condition of their Proton Exora timing belt. For me, if only I know that the condition of the timing belt is still as good as it is, I may wait till 95,000 km. Please, don’t use my statement for your judgment. I’m not responsible for any damage to your Proton Exora engine if your timing belt fails.

Finally, the service completed at 11.00 am, 1 hour earlier then expected. Cool! Then I paid using my CIMB credit card and received the free gift which come with the semi synthetic oil that I purchased.

Cyza Sector Technical Analysis – January 2012 Edition

Introduction

I don’t want to hide my intention to make Cyza Sector not just a good blog, but a great one. The 2012 spirit has pushed and motivated me to rejuvenate this blog. This personal blog of mine has been around for quite some time but I was not consistent in nurturing and revitalizing it. Now is the time. Now is the moment. Can I improve Cyza Sector?

It is easy to be good but it ain’t easy to be great. I know all of you agree that there are many good personal and niche blogs out there. But is our blog a great one? Can our blog be the one that attract the largest crowd in planet ~~Cybertron~~ earth? I see many blogs out there with substantial daily traffic and they have great contents published consistently. How can they do it? If they can, I should be able to do it as well.

To realize my goal for Cyza Sector, I have planned a strategy. For the time being, let the strategy be a mystery. It will be shared somewhere in the future when the perfect time comes. However, I will share part of Cyza Sector monthly analysis. For every planned work and execution, there must be a post moterm and analysis. This is to ensure we are in line with our goal and destiny. This technical analysis will be my regular monthly blogpost (which is mainly for my record).

Cyza Sector Traffic Analysis

For now, I have used only Google Analytics to monitor the traffic information to Cyza Sector. I will start using Awstats data from the Cpanel next month when I have the entire months data. I know some of the bloggers around report their analytics performances to exhibit to others as well to keep it for their own record. I’m doing just the same. However, I am attempting to be a little bit more technical but not too extreme.

I re-installed the Analytics script code on 22nd January 2012. Before this, I have it installed but somewhere along the line, it disappears when I switched wordpress themes. That’s why if you refer to all the figures below, you will see that before 22nd Jan 2012, there were no data recorded.

From Figure 1, we can see important information such as total Visits, Pageviews, Pages/Visit, Bounce Rate, Avg Time on Site and % of New Visits. This is a preliminary data as it is the first batch of information captured. Information like this should be compared with one or more set of similar data. Then only we can assess the performance of Cyza Sector. So, lets expect a more comprehensive analysis by early March.

The only piece of information that I can extract from Figure 2 (in comparison to Figure 1) is the quantity of Absolute Unique Visitors (AUV) which is 1,339. This number is quite low since the data capturing began on the 23rd of January. I’m expecting more AUV in February.

Figure 3 illustrates the Visitors Loyalty data which is interesting to be known. For this category, I’m more interested to see the level of loyalty within my readers. This data can indirectly inform us on the success of us keeping and attracting our readers. What I’m hoping here is to see more of the 2 times to 28-50 times percentage. Nevertheless, I’m not saying that I don’t appreciate the first timers to Cyza Sector. I equally like them to find my blog. Welcome aboard guys!

Cyza Sector Income Analysis – January 2012

Since I have set a Cyza Sector target to reach $1000 per month by January 2013, I need to keep track of the income. performance generation. Let’s check out how did Cyza Sector perform last month:

1) Adsense January : $8.27
2) Infolinks: $4.44

Total Income – January 2012 = $ 12.71

Honestly, I did not check Cyza Sector’s adsense until I made this report. I think for a personal blog, such adsense should be decent enough considering the traffic it received last month. As for Infolinks income, I think it is reasonable. This blog definitely should earn something from TNX based on the previous records that I have. However, I forgot about the script codes when I changed the theme somewhere last year. I strongly believe, after I fixed this, I shall earn something from TNX. You should try this program as well. It is super cool! For TLA, I don’t expect to get anything from this now because the PR is still 2. Maybe soon when the PR raised to a minimum of 3. There are other income generating programs that I have in mind as well which I have not incorporated yet within Cyza Sector.

Cyza Sector Investment Analysis – January 2012

Let’s just say I invested countless hours (mainly to release my tension from my Ph.D studies). If I can estimate, I think I spent 30 minutes to 1.5 hours per day. That’s the biggest investment so far considering time is so precious to me. In the other hand, cash investment attributes to $31. The cash is basically to kick start the contest in January 2012.

Conclusion

Fundamentally, I can divide the conclusion into 2 segments: Traffic and Income. Traffic wise needs massive improvement. Cyza Sector is still far away from the targeted traffic. In average I can say that I’m receiving 160 unique visitors per day. I need to increase it to increase that 10 times more. Income wise, the January 2012 total income is still yet far away from the one I target. I seriously need to double my effort. I also must creatively apply other sources of generating income.

But as you know, I don’t have all the time in the world. Therefore, some strategies will be soon implemented to improve the overall performance of Cyza Sector. I appreciate any unique ideas from you.

My sister is struggling alone with her study now in UK...Happy birthday to you!

Today is the birthday of my one and only sister, Rina. She is 9 years younger than me and still single. She is always away from the family. She has more experience traveling overseas compared to me. After working for 4 years, she decided to continue her masters degree in Bradford University, United Kingdom, the same university as me (for my undergraduate chemical engineering degree). She studied Mobile Engineering, a course which is very rare. The course is not offered in Malaysia and surrounding region. That’s why she went to do the course in ~~Bradpitt~~ Bradford University.

Here is my birthday wish to her: “Rina, Happy birthday. Hope you are doing fine and healthy in UK. Study smart and live your live. Remain faith with your iman and protect your dignity as a Muslim. Hope you get a good soleh husband soon. Ameen.”
