6 Reasons why we love having Macdonald’s breakfast

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Food Stuff

We now have a new place for breakfast. It has been 3 days back to back that we had our breakfast in Macdonald’s. It is indeed a nice new place to enjoy a peaceful and pleasant breakfast. Our choice is the 24 hours Macdonald’s beside Shell near UTM.

Here are 6 reasons why I love breakfast at Mcdonalds:

1. I can read free newspaper. They serve News Straight Times, The Sun, Harian Metro and Berita Harian. There is one or two Chinese news paper that I could not read…

2. They provide wireless internet. So, after reading newspaper, I can browse check my emails there.

3. The place is cozy , comfortable and relaxing. No doubt with that. We tend to spend extra hours there, eating , chatting, reading newspaper and internet without any interruption.

4. The breakfast options/menu is good and the price is reasonable. I don’t have to buy 2 portions of breakfast for me and my wife. We share it, not because we are stingy, but both of us eat less. Even we share food, sometimes, we have to force ourselves to finish them.

5. Free coffee refill. This is very good for us. A set of breakfast will have a cup of coffee. So, when the coffee is not enough, we can just refill them. The coffee is also tasty and delicious…

6.  Free car park and easy accessibility. This is important. If the car park is not there, it’s going to trouble the customers. The car park is abundantly available and it is just a few steps from the restaurant.

So far, those are the six points I can think off. If any of you can add more on to it, please feel free to say it…

Mosarella bake fish

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Food Stuff

We dined at Secret recipe just now, after watching the Motocross and cub-cross in front of Sutera Mall earlier this afternoon. My wife suggested a new western meal – Mosarella bake fish. It looks nice, so I ordered it. The taste is good, delicious and it is served with round potatoes which are crispy from outside, not like wedges. I have not tasted such potato like that before. It also served asparagus as well and that was the first time I are that too. The price is RM17.50 per meal. It’s good to taste it for the first time. Check it out yourself…

Fine Dine February 1

Published by cyza under Food Stuff

Here are some nice foods that we had in February.

This is a nice home cook chili crab. It was my wife’s first attempt of cooking this dish. Unfortunately the crabs didn’t taste good because it’s no longer fresh. However, the chili gravy fried with egg taste really good. At least that made it eatable. Rating: 4 Star.

Beef Lasagna which I had in Secret Recipe. It was served after 3-4 minutes ordering and I consider that very fast. I wonder how do they cooked it. Maybe they have kept it ready and just put it in the microwave as people ordered them. By the way, I love the presentation. Well done. Rating: 4 Star.

A closer look of the Beef Lasagna. This beef lasagna uses means meat as the main ingredient besides cheese and pasta.

Grilled Dory with Lobster source was the course chosen by my wife while dining at Secret Recipe. Yeah, it was a nice one, but I don’t think I’ll order it in future. Rating: 3.5 Star.

This is “Maki”. Our insurance agent treated us for an interesting lunch at a Kinsahi, a Japanese restaurant located in Sutera Mall, Johor Bahru. This Maki is superbly delicious! I love it and I will it this again. Rating 5 Star.

I forgot what this course is called but I had it in Kinsahi as well. It was nice to be able to taste some of this “weird” cooking (because it’s Japanese course) but I fancy the tempura but not the brown coloured squid. Rating: 3 Star.

Chicken Soup Relief Your Stress

Published by cyza under Food Stuff, Health

Are you experiencing terrible stress? Stress from work, stress from study? stress from family? stress from colleague? stress from your own goals? Well, you can reduce your stress now…

Did you know that Chinese zookeepers recently gave a pair of stressed-out pandas some homemade chicken soup as a way to calm their nerves after a particularly busy day at the zoo. You may know only too well that grandma’s recipe can do wonders for our body and soul, especially if you’re ill. But have you ever wondered why? Here’s something that we can share.

Take action:

Liquids, such as soup, can help combat dehydration when you’re in bed with a tummy bug. Hot soup also produces steam that can help ease nasal congestion and keep your nasal passages moist when you have a cold or flu. Many recipes for chicken soup also contain garlic, which has antibiotic and antiviral properties. And chicken is also a good source of selenium – an antioxidant that helps with the normal functioning of the immune system.

I’ve tried before (my wife cooked) and it was fantastic… You should try it as well. Ask you mother to cook if you are not yet married or your girlfriend to cook if you are in a relationship… :)

Good luck

Secret Service Dine At Secret Recepi

Published by zaki under Food Stuff

We went to Secret Recepi, Jaya Jusco Taman Universiti, Skudai yesterday not really to eat but to kill the time. Before that I sent my spectacle to a nearby shop to switch the leans/glasses. We have to wait for 1-2 hours for them to complete fixing my glasses. So, I just whispered to my wife, let’s hang around at Jusco and have a drink somewhere. Then, some voice directed us to Secret Recipe. OK, we stepped in and I ordered the Blackberry Cheese Cake which is my all time favourite while my other half ordered a slice Chocolate Indulgence.

Don’t asked how it taste. You’ve gotta taste it yourself. It’s really …. After successfully consuming the super delicious cakes, my Sony Erickson phone rang and the girl from the spectacle shop informed me that my glasses are ready to be picked up.

Fine Dine At Hotel Mahkota Melaka

Published by zaki under Food Stuff

First of all, I need to highlight that if we have to pay ourself, we won’t dine at Mahkota Cafe, Hotel Mahkota Melaka. You know what that means don’t you ;) . However, I’m fortunate to enjoy and add some weight during breakfast, lunch and dinner at Mahkota Cafe.

buffet

The buffet poster in front of Mahkota Cafe. Let me read it loud for you… The Mahkota Feast’s Buffet dinner cost RM39.00 per adult. That’s the cheapest deal they’re offering. Who cares…. For the first night there, both me and my wife had a splendid dinner which cost RM78.00 excluding the tax.

buffet 1

I did not capture the photos of the buffet. There too much food if I have to snapped all of them. Instead I took just some of the photos of the marvelous foods we ate that night. We only ate mmmm… I guessed 35% of the various types of food served. We could not handle the other 65%…. Too much of food!!! Those (the photo above) were what my wife took for dinner at the first night.

buffet 3

Those were what I took for dinner at the first night. Just some plain white fragrance rice with some curry chicken, some black pepper prawn, some grilled salmon fish covered with some sort of leave, sweet sour broccolis and fresh juicy chilly squid.

buffet 2

This was what I took for my side dish. Fresh lettuces, some carrots and two cute tiny tomatos with one thousand island dressing. Remember, the dressing has tremendous amount of cholesterol. But, exception for that night…. :)
buffet 4

While we were enjoying our meal, my wife saw few people next to us with sate on their table. So, she hinted me. I understood her signal, so I search for the sate and get it for her. The sate was irresistible!!!

buffet 5

This desert was taken by my wife. She just could not help it. I loved the creamy vanilla ice cream. It was so soft :) that I asked her to take some more for me…

buffet 6

So, she took more ice cream for me plus a piece of yummy chocolate covered doughnut.

buffet 7

Both of us had a cup of coffee with 2 packed of sugar to make it just nice. I think I had two cups that night and after that I was extremely full.

breakfast 1

These are what I’ve had for breakfast on the last day. I forgot to snapped some photos on what I’ve consumed for breakfast on Saturday. I took 3 slices of Belgian cheese, freshly cook yellowish scramble egg, French croissant and a cake covered with mustard.

breakfast 2

This was what my wife had for breakfast on the last day. I let her described about it later… :)

breakfast 3

This was what I had for the second round of my breakfast on the last day. Some red beans, few oven grilled potato wedges, beef sausage, a type of cake with grape tart, a butter to be consumed with a piece of bread, and a slice of meat. Wow…i was very full…

ice cream

Well, for my kids, we just let them enjoy some ice cream that we bought at the Mahkota Hotel shop… he he ;)

Wow… both of us (me and my other half) really put on some fantastic weight… Now, that we’ve back to reality, we need to sweat and burn some calories … :)

p/s: They’ll think I’m a maniac if I consistently snapped photos of all the meal that we consumed… Ada rasa malu juge tu… he he…. dia tu gila ke apa….tak pernah tengok makanan je???

9 Ways to Save Money on Your Food

Published by zaki under Food Stuff

Do you eat to live, or live to eat? It work both ways… Bottom line we gotta eat. But how to satisfy the hunger without starving your wallet. How much do you spend for food? and food for your household? RM500? RM900 or RM1,600… It will definitely depends on our income and budget, and the size of the family you are feeding. According to my wife (who’s the family account), we (5 of us + the maid) spend about $1,000 per month on food. The food include groceries and dining out. Of course once in a while we need to dine out to fulfill our extraordinary appetite :)

tesco

But do we realize that many of us blow our budgets further on restaurant meals. That’s so true. One would be broke at the middle of the month if they frequented dine out. Few days ago, I read an article on the featured section in Yahoo.com. They’ve listed 9 ways to save money on food, whether you’re eating in or out.

1. Learn to Cook

Eating out is a huge budget buster. Even seemingly inexpensive fast food can add up quickly. Cooking your own meals could save you a small fortune on restaurants and groceries (you’ll buy fewer pricey frozen and prepared meals). Plus, you could make dating cheaper — who wouldn’t be impressed by a cozy dinner? Scour the Web for simple recipes to get your feet wet, or check out beginner cook books at your local bookstore.

2. Take Fewer Trips to the Grocery Store

Making bigger shopping trips less often will cut down on your impulse buys. In fact, almost half of all shoppers go to the store three or four times per week. Shoppers making a “quick trip” to the store usually purchase 54% more than they planned, according to a study published by the Marketing Science Institute.

If you go to the store three times a week and spend RM10 on impulse buys each trip, that adds up to RM120 extra per month. But if you go only once a week, you’ll spend RM40 per month on impulse buys. That saves you RM80 per month, or RM960 per year. (Impulse buy is something that you don’t plan to buy, but you saw it in the store and decided to buy it).

3. Break your Restaurant Routine

This may seem obvious, but we are creatures of habit and convenience. Make an effort to cut back a little, such as dining out once a week instead of three nights a week. With RM20 meals, this simple act will trim your expenses by RM160 a month.

4. Bring Your Lunch to Work

Spending just RM6 a day on a home-made lunch versus RM10 a day on the mixed rice shop next to the office will save you about RM80 a month and RM960 each year.

5. Grocery Shop With Focus

Another way to cut down on impulse buys is to shop with a list. Sketch out the week’s meals and jot down the ingredients you’ll need. Remember to factor in treats, snacks and lunches. Then stick to the list. You might find it helpful to leave the kids at home so you’re not tempted to give into pressure from crying children for an extra treat or toy that isn’t on your list.

6. Buy Generic

You can almost always save money by choosing a no-name brand instead of a brand name. And you usually won’t sacrifice much in quality on many items, from cereal to canned goods and frozen vegetables. Also, the savings on generic baby formula and prescription drugs can be huge. You could save a few cents to a couple of Malaysia Ringgit per item. And that adds up quickly each month.

7. Make Your Own Latte

That daily RM1 cup of coffee is costing you RM30 per month — or more than RM360 per year. Invest in a good-quality coffee 3 in 1 packet (Super brand for instance) and make your own brew for much less. Or kick the caffeine habit altogether and enjoy the health benefits along with the financial.

8. Time Your Meal

No, eating quickly won’t make the bill smaller. Rather, consider eating out for lunch instead of dinner. That way, you can get lunch-menu prices for dinner-quality entrees.

9. Mind the Unit Price

Many grocery store tags will tell you how much an item costs per ounce, per kg or by some other unit of measure. Comparison-shop by unit price and save. I always buy Twiesties Tomato flavour on my way back home from work in a Shell or Petronas which cost me RM1.80. I should have bought them in Tesco or Giant or Econsave where it cost between RM1.30 to 1.40 per pack ;)
