Today I work up relatively earlier than the other Saturdays. Why? Simple because the time to service my white Proton Exora has arrived and I need to send it for servicing. I have set an appointment for servicing and they have already expected me and my MPV. The white Proton Exora servicing took about 3 hours because the timing belt has to be changed. While waiting, I imagine the marvelous home made fried mee that my wife will be cooking soon.

As soon as I reached home the splendid aroma smoothly penetrated my nostril without force. The home made fried mee is almost ready. It contains some chicken, fish ball and fish cake. Before enjoying this warm spicy meal, I applied some fried onion and also few pieces of cucumber. The meal was successfully consumed and process within 3.5 minutes. It was concluded with 2 cups of another home made milk tea (tea tarik).

Since, the fried mee was eaten around 11.15 am, I think it is more appropriate to call it “brunch” instead of breakfast. So, what do you have for breakfast just now?

I have to make way for my wife (although there is a live telecast of FA Cup 3rd round between Manchester United and Manchester City) to watch the finale of MasterChef Malaysia which saw the battle between Ezani and Wahidan. The show has ended and it is confirmed that the winner of MasterChef Malaysia Season 1 is Ezani.

I should have posted this very earlier. Unfortunately, as some of you know, I don’t have the luxury of time to do that. Orait…straight to the point. After 6 years, Alya finally had a birthday party. Not only that she had a birthday party, she also had 2 birthday cakes (within a space of 4 days). Check out her birthday cakes… hehe…

The first birthday cake is the Angry bird birthday cake. Officiated on her own birthday at house (after work). The second birthday cake was the Princes birthday cake (ordered and purchased from Secret Recipe). It weighs 6 kg and it’s really heavy!!! It is also toooooo sweet… I cannot cope with the extend of sugar in the icing of this cake… uh…

If you are reading this post you must be grateful to the God that you are blessed with health, food, nice climate, beautiful family, place to shelter and many more. I’m writing this post spontaneously just to share what I just read before.

Some of you are married and have kids. Some maybe are still single. But, let say you have a 4 year old child. Will you dare to leave you child who fainted due to insufficient food, nutrients, pure exhaustion?

As I am writing this post, I realized my tears slowly drop. I’m not the type of guy that cries easily, but I cannot stand to see, feel this sort of situation. It is very upsetting. What have the world done to help all these people? Are they even thinking of them? Are we to arrogant to even bother to think and try to help them?

Now, I must specifically include additional prayers in my doa for those who are very extremely unfortunate.

DADAAB, Kenya (AP) — Wardo Mohamud Yusuf walked for two weeks with her 1-year-old daughter on her back and her 4-year-old son at her side to flee Somalia’s drought and famine. When the boy collapsed near the end of the journey, she poured some of the little water she had on his head to cool him, but he was unconscious and could not drink.

She asked other families traveling with them for help, but none stopped, fearful for their own survival.

Then the 29-year-old mother had to make a choice that no parent should have to make.

“Finally, I decided to leave him behind to his God on the road,” Yusuf said days later in an interview at a teeming refugee camp in Dadaab, Kenya. “I am sure that he was alive, and that is my heartbreak.”

Parents fleeing the devastating famine on foot — sometimes with as many as seven children in tow — are having to make unimaginably cruel choices: Which children have the best chance to survive when food and water run low? Who should be left behind?

“I have never faced such a dilemma in my life,” Yusuf told The Associated Press. “Now I’m reliving the pain of abandoning my child. I wake up at night to think about him. I feel terrified whenever I see a son of his age.”

Dr. John Kivelenge, a mental health officer for the International Rescue Committee at Dadaab emphasizes the extreme duress Somali mothers and fathers are facing.

“It is a normal reaction to an abnormal situation. They can’t sit down and wait to die together,” he said. “But after a month, they will suffer post-traumatic stress disorder, which means they will have flashbacks and nightmares.

“The picture of the children they abandoned behind will come back to them and haunt them,” he said. “They will also have poor sleep and social problems.”

The United States estimates that more than 29,000 Somali children under age 5 have died in the famine in the last three months. An unknown number too weak to walk farther have been abandoned on the sandy trek to help after food and water supplies ran out.

Faduma Sakow Abdullahi, a 29-year-old widow, attempted the journey to Dadaab with her baby and other children ages 5, 4, 3 and 2. A day before she reached the refugee camp, her 4-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son wouldn’t wake up after a brief rest.

Abdullahi said she did not want to “waste” the little water she had in a 5-liter container on dying children when the little ones needed it.

Nor did she want to wait for too long until her other children started dying, so she stood up and walked away a few paces — then returned in the hopes the youngsters were in fact alive.

After several back-and-forth walks, she finally left her two children under a tree, unsure whether they could be resuscitated.

More than 12 million people in East Africa are in need of food aid because of the severe drought. The U.N. says 2.8 million of those are in need of immediate lifesaving assistance, including more than 450,000 in Somalia’s famine zones.

Ahmed Jafar Nur, a 50-year-old father of seven, was traveling with his 14-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter to Kenya. But after only two days of walking, they ran out of water. By the third day, they could only sit beneath a big tree — thirsty, hungry and exhausted.

“The two children could not walk on anymore. Then instead of us all dying there, I was forced to leave them to their fate, especially after I thought of the other five children and their mother I left behind at home. I said to myself, ‘Save your life for the interest of the five others. These two have their God,’” he said.

“That was the worst thing I experienced in my life. It was a heartbreaking experience to abandon my children who are part of myself,” he said. “For almost three months, my mind was not stable. Their images were in front of me.”

Miraculously, the two teenagers were saved by nomads, and they have since made their way back to their mother in Somalia. But Nur said he can’t afford to bring the rest of his family to Kenya because it cost too much.

“I was a farmer and had no education that can help me now get jobs. We depend on handouts,” he said. “My mind is preoccupied with them: Will they all die, including their mother, or will some survive? That is what I always ask myself.”

When Faqid Nur Elmi’s 3-year-old son died of hunger and thirst on the road from Somalia, his mother could only surround his body with small dried branches to serve as a grave. She couldn’t stop to mourn — there were five other children to think about.

“Where will I get the energy to dig up a grave for him?” she asked. “I was just thinking of how I can save the rest of the children. The God who gave me him in the first place took him away. So I didn’t worry much about the late son. Others’ lives were at risk.”

Sebenarnya aku memang nak buat entri ni dari minggu lepas lagi, tapi teramatlah tightnya masa aku dengan urusan career. So, nak tak nak aku sempatkan lah buat entry ni seadanya. Korang tgk lah, aku pun dah tak sempat nak posting dalam bahasa kedua (English) seperti kebiasaanya sebab bahasa tu aku tulis slow sikit…kena ensure grammar semua ok etc. La ni aku main taru je, update post in bahasa ibunda…laju sikit.

Isnin

OK, kisahnya begini, minggu lepas kan kitorang (aku dan isteri) pi KL pada hari Isnin. Ada hal lah tu di IEM PJ. So, sebelum tu makan lah kitorang kat Victoria Station. Korang boleh baca post minggu lepas untuk sedikit elaboration pasal tu. So, bil makan kitorang time tu, takleh murah, sebenarnya kalau time bujang, aku boleh buat jumlah makan byk tu utk makan selama 2-3 minggu… Dan juga aku boleh buat untuk isi minyak kereta penuh (stok seminggu). Jumlah makan adalah lebih kurang RM109. Aku tak ingat lah sen-sen dia…itu hari ingat nak amik gambar tapi tak sure mana ntah resit dia.

Gambar kat atas sana nu kira daging platter pelbagai dan yang gambar ni pulak sea food platter. Aku dan isteri aku tukar-tukar pinggan. Kejap pinggan daging, kejap pinggan sea food.

Selasa

Aku dah pakat ngan isteri aku yang kita kena makan murah sikit besok lusa ni sebab dah habis 3 angka makan kat Victoria Station Isnin tu. Harapan tinggal harapan…sebab Selasa tu kita belasah makan Makanan Timur (ala Arab-arab gitu) di Taman Universiti. Restoran tu first time kita masuk dan walamak, deko dia memang cool dan power. Kira byk juga lah owner ni habis nak mendekorasi restoran corner lot dia tu. Aku order something like daging ayam-lembu punya grill di makan dengan roti nan yang lembut (RM25), empuk dan garing di tepi. Isteri aku pulak nasi beryani ayam (RM15), jauh benor dengan harga nasi beryani orang melayu atau restoran mamak punya. Tapi, kita try je lah. Aku order air panas kosong je (Free) dan isteri aku order fresh orange cow-cow (RM9). So, kira lah agak-agak cost dia berapa. Campur itu campur ini, dekat-dekat RM50 lah jumlah nya. Kira banyak juga lah sebab typical makan lunch yang sederhana tu is about RM10 – RM15. Ini kira lebih cost juga…nak buat camna. Tapi, kitorang sangat berpuas hati dengan meal hari tu dan kami tak habis memuji owner restoran yang serve kami, memang sedaplah nasi beryani korang ni… Memang akan makan lagi. Kuah dia tu cow-cow…apa benda ntah depa letak, tak tau lah… Bila bayar dia, siap dia bagi double mint chewing gum…haha…ok lah tu… Servis dia pun best. Kitorang tak habis, so kita minta di tapaukan…ok lah…sebab malam tu, aku dan anak-anak, habiskan makanan tengahari ni. Aku dan isteri sebenarnya tak makan byk, so, next time, kalau datang sini lagi…(memang nak datang pun, tapi malam pulak), akan amik nasi beryani dan share je. Sebab portion orang timur tengah ni besar. Tapi kalau korang memang jenis makan byk, takpe lah…amik satu set dan makan sorang2.

Inilah set nasib beryani dia RM15 yang aku cakap tu. Memang sedah siutt. Sehingga aku terngiang-ngiang nak makan lagi. huhu…

Dan ini pulak Fresh orange RM9 yang co-cow tu. Belakang tu adalah sample air cherry yang depa bagi test free je. Memang pekat dia punya masam-masam manis. Sampai tak boleh nak order air cherry. Sebelum tu juga, depa bagi FREE apertiser air manggo dan juga roti nan dengan cheese putih. Depa ni memang pemurah…semua air-air gelas kecik dan roti nan appertiser FREE. Owner jenis tak berkira… OK, kalau korang nak tengok aku review baik punya pasal restoran ni, tak lama lagi aku akan review pasal restoran ni di JBCool.com. Aku dah contact owner dia dan owner dia welcome artikel review aku tu…hehe…lagi power review aku sebab boleh tgk semua gambar pasal restoran ni…

Rabu

Setelah 2 hari, kami telah habis dekat-dekat RM160 untuk makan lunch je. So, ingatkan hari ni kena discipline sikits dan makan murah sikit. Tapi, pucuk dicipta ulam mendatang. Tak jadi pulak. Wife aku nak beli something kat Jusco Tebrau City dan sebab takde masa lain, so, lunch time kita berdezup ke sana dengan our insurance agent yang tumpang sekali nak hang out dengan kita sebab dah lama tak jumpa. Sampai Tebrau City, semua dah lapar dan cari makan. Kenapa ntah tak terpikir makan kat food court tapi terpikir nak makan kat restoran2 lain kat atas tu. Maklumlah, ada wife aku dan agen insurans kitorang (Dua 2 kan pompuan). so, depa ni macam nak makan best-best pulak!!! OK lah…aku ajak pi Ayamas ke RasaMas…depa semua tak nak. So, last-last pegilah kat restoran opposite tu – Secret Recipe. Aku dah

blank nak makan apa pulak kat sini. Last-last aku amik lah Nasi Goreng apa ntah. Di pendekkan cerita, semua kos adalah hanya RM75 untuk kami ber-3. Jeng-jeng-jeng….makan mahal lagi utk lunch!!! Bosan-bosan…

Ni menu standard wife aku…selalu juga dia makan benda yang di panggil tomyam ni kalau dia dah blank nak makan apa…

Khamis

Isteri aku dah janji sebenarnya nak bawak student-student PSM dan future post graduate students dia makan-makan sejak Isnin lepas. Tapi, kitorang kan pegi KL, so tak jadi time tu. So, di gantikan lah dengan hari Khamis. Haha…Aku dah agak dah…mesti lunch besar lagi ni. So, that afternoon, aku, isteri dan 5 orang students telah keluar makan. Sebelum tu, kitorang dah pikir2 nak makan kat mana? Adalah plan nak pegi Pasir Gudang nak makan kat Kedai makan Rahmat yang famous dengan Siakap dia tu. Tapi jauh sangat. Last-last kitorang makan kat Johnny’s je. Bila tanya budak-budak ni, sorang pun belum pernah makan di Johnny’s… So, ok lah tu. Makan lah kita lunch kat situ. So, dipendekkan lagi cerita, time bayar seperti biasalah aku lah kan… adalah habis dalam RM110. Fuh nasib baik tak lebih…sebab ada 7 orang kan…Semua makna-makan dari hari Isnin sampai Khamis aku bayar pakai CASH. Aku tak amik apa-apa photo…hehe…segan la kat students…dah la semua students anak dara!!!

Minggu ni, nak tak nak aku kena keluarkan Google Adsense aku…So, total lebih kurang habis dari Isnin sampai Khamis is about RM345!!! Makan lunch utk 4 hari dah jejak RM345. Ayoyo!!!

Jumaat

Hari ini aku dah cakap kat isteri aku lagi…kali ni kita kena makan biasa-biasa je…takde lagi makan hebat2. Dia setuju… So, kita pun makan lah kat Restoran kat Taman Teratai tu yang penuh sesak dengan orang time lunch tu.  Aku sepeti biasa amik kembung bakar. Tapi kali ni kembung tu tak fresh, disappointed sikit. OK lah… Habis pun just RM12 plus je…siap bungkus kuih RM2 lagi. Kenyang juga bukan tak kenyang.

So, moral of the story:

1) Makan murah pun bleh kenyang!!!

2) Makan best sekali-sekala pun boleh, apa salahnya.
