There are still many bloggers out there who blogs using the traditional free Blogger.com (blogspot.com) or WordPress.com platform. It is not a serious offend to blog using these free platforms. It’s fine. It’s OK. However, if you are serious about establishing a virtual real estate empire, it is better to have your own domain and hosting to run your blogging activities.

If you treat your blogging activity like a business, you will see and reap the rewards soon. If you are serious with your business, chances are you will invest small money to buy your first domain and first hosting. Hook your domain to WordPress.org. That’s a crucial step to kick start your blogging business.

Why WordPress.org?

You should really look into WordPress, the simplest and most powerful blogging platform available today. Powering over 50% of all blogs, and more than a few other websites, WordPress makes the task of content-management easy for anyone.

When you have your own blog, I mean “really have your own blog”, nobody can stop you. If Google.com suddenly freeze your blogspot.com account, you don’t have to worry because your blog content is no longer under them. Why? As I’m writing this entry, I only have another 22 minutes remaining to stay online using the pin that was provided to my wife (as a participant in a workshop in this hotel). At the same time, it is half time clash of the FA cup battle between Manchester United and Liverpool. Currently it is 1-1.

I have the luxury of time to think about my career and online business while monitoring my kids in the swimming pool. I managed to maintain something like USD300-400 per months in 2010 from my blogs. All has been achieved via my part time blogging activities. It’s not that much compared with other champions out there, but for me, it is a pocket money to buy stuffs. The problem then is the drop of income in 2011. I wonder why? What happen? This is what I have been analyzing. I don’t want 2012 to repeat the income misery of 2011. The year 2012 should be better and I have set certain online targets for me to achieve.

I haven’t written down all those target officially yet. However, the rough idea is in my head. Maybe I can share one of the target which is related to this blog. The rest I will reveal progressively. Is it too much or illogical if I say I want to target to earn $1000 per month from this blog alone? I plan to achieve this in January 2013.

It’s Saturday and so far it is a nice weekend. I woke up early unlike other Saturdays (kantoi). Well, actually, I would like to share a story. Roughly 3 weeks ago, my neighbour suddenly passed away. The caused is said to be a combination between heart attack and pneumonia. He was a good friend of mine although there is an age gap between us (he is in his early 50s). We always discuss about business late at night outside of our house and also while in duty during the KRT (Kumpulan Rukun Tetangga) in our neighbourhood. I have helped him promote his coffee business previously.

On the day he passed away, I was with my wife in Shanghai. More about this Shanghai stuff coming soon. I have no idea at all about the tragedy until her wife SMS me when we landed in Malaysia 2 days after he passed away. It was a shocking news to me and a terrible lost to all of us. Arwah (that’s how we call Muslim who has passed away), has great knowledge and is good in treating sick people the Islamic way using Al-Quran versus. He is capable of chasing away evil spirit etc that stays inside someones body or someones house. Many sick people come and approach him for help. It’s almost like Ustaz Harun Din or Darul Syifak.

He is the sole breadwinner of the family and since the tragic day, the entire family need to think of a strategy to survive this world. When me and my wife visited the wife of arwah, we offered our help if in case there is anything that we can do to assist them in any way. We understood that it is difficult for a housewife to begin working and earn money after almost 20 years managing the house and family. Now, she has to think of how to earn for the family.

Today, arwah’s wife SMS me and asked my help to start a business. Without any hesitation I replied that I will help her start a business in our work place. However, the business plan is still not clear and certain. We need to ask somebody who actually run a cafe in our work place and see how they can offer to help my neighbour. In addition to that, I also suggested her to start an online business. An online business will make her stay at home and just run the business from the comfort of home while at the same time manage the family. She thinks it is a good idea. She asked me if it is ok to sell product “A”. I responded, that’s great. I then asked her to register an email address and start an account in Facebook. That’s crucial for any online business. The next lesson I will inform her soon when she has Product “A” ready as well as the email address and Facebook account. I hope all of you can also support her (my neighbour).

Product “A” is suitable for women. Actually it is part of women accessories. When the product is ready and the business is officially launch, I will announce it to all of you. This is not a business partnership what so ever between me and my neighbour. I’m 100% helping the family sincerely. I would like them to be able to earn money independently and live like other family.

I have a friend who is very successful in terms of making huge money online. He lives in Kuala Lumpur. He was my housemate when we studied in Bradford University, UK (13 years ago). Like me, he has 3 kids with her wife. Her wife who previously work in a university quit her job to assist her husband’s online business.

He visited me in Johor early last year and we had a long chat since we have not met for 11 years. A lot have changed since then. I just knew that he is making money online despite of having an Electrical Engineering degree from UK. He is even doing far better than a normal manager salary. I repeat, far better… Having 8 virtual staffs from around the world (at that time) to assist his business and more than 300 websites/blogs, he seems to be very humble and down to earth type of person. Nobody knows who he is because he remains under the radar. He is not like other bloggers or Internet Marketer (IM) in our country (Malaysia) that many people knows. He is far from being that glamorous celebrity blogger or IM.

If you have been making money with Adsense before 2007, I bet you experienced how long we need to wait to cash out our money when the Adsense cheque from US arrives. We need to wait for 2 months before the money is ready in our saving or current account. Then we can withdraw them and use the cash for simply anything.

Then, after that, Google changed the payment system for Malaysians to Western Union which makes payment shorter to only 1 month (of waiting). Like other Adsense players, I’m glad when Google decided to shift from delivering cheques to using Western Union for pay us the publishers. Many of us don’t have to wait anymore.

So, how can this transfer of payment method (Google Adsense) relate to my friend?

Well, actually Google Adsense contacted my friend and asked his opinion about the change in payment system. I’m not saying he was the only on that Google Adsense contacted. Maybe there are other people as well. But, my friend’s input was requested and applied by Google Adsense. He has been earning handsomely from adsense and Google may want to ask his input and recommendation. Before many Malaysians could withdrawn adsense money using Western Union, he has tested the entire process several times.

Listening to his story which actually he did not intend to tell me made me realize that my friend is really special, knowledgeable, very experience and successful in making money online. It was me who persuaded him to tell and share the story.

OK, enough about my friend’s story. What I want to share with you now is his one important tip to make money with blog when we are doing it on a part time basis. Actually I asked him for some tips to be successful making money online. His tip was very simple:

Focus on one blog only per year. Make that blog an authority blog and it will remain top in the search engine result page (SERP). Then, if you want to venture into other blog, then you can do it the next year.

That’s it. Short and simple. According to him, that’s the only tip (not tips) and I feel I need to share it with you guys.

Since I had my adsense account in late 2006, I have never turn back. I have been trying to optimize, tweek and twist my adsense income since that time. I have tried using google adwords to boost my adsense earning somewhere in 2008. Yeah… the income increased to quite a significant level, but then it decreased after 3 to 4 months. Prior to that I also tried using Yahoo Ad network to increase my adsense income. It also did not work. Maybe my knowledge is still limited…Yes, I admit that. I still have too much too learn with so little time to spend.

But now… I’m more focus on Adsense. Adsense for me is like having a monthly rental income from online real estates (which are the blogs). It works. Each and every month I harvested the income. The only thing is that the income magnitude is still the same since 2008!!!

I need to quadruple the income so that I can taste some comfort-ability in terms my adsense earning. That is a must. Few hours ago, I spent substantial hours in international forum to learn more regarding adsense. I found some interesting niches. In fact, I just purchased a new domain from an entirely new niche, which is alien to me… It does not matter. What I need to is to combine my resources, time and manage outsourcing effectively.

So, my goal for this year, adsense-wise, is to earn 4 figures (usd currency) consistently, monthly. Still have a long way to go. But I have the powerful real estate properties to help me achieve that. With some backlinks and marketing works, I hope to reach there…

Then, I can share it with all of you…I mean my experiences…my journey…

Is it really impossible? No… I have two living proof friends currently earning handsomely from Adsense… One is earning something like USD1500 per month (few years junior than me from JB) while the other one (same age as me) is really an adsense mogul. He earns something like USD5000-7000 a month, living in his condo in KL. It is achievable. We just need to be focus on it.
