As promise, here is the continuation of photos taken from our trip to Kota Kinabalu. We stayed at Novotel Hotel, which is not located in the heart of Kota Kinabalu (I mean not in the city center). Novotel hotel is located in 1Borneo, in the area of Alam Mesra. It is very near to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS). The hotel is integrated with 1Borneo Shopping Mall, hence it’s very convenient to eat and shop.

Novotel hotel is very nice and comfortable. It has very large window wall for us to enjoy the view outside.

It also has see through windows to the bathroom/shower. So, we can see others taking shower…hahah…

View from inside the bathroom. We can see the beds directly.

Cute circular washing sink.

The pool is located at the 7th floor of the hotel.

We brought our kids 2 times to this floating pool and my kids enjoyed it very much…

What I’m going to present here is our expenses for the entire trip to Kota Kinabalu recently. The cost will be almost accurate. Oh yea…I’m yet to add more photos, please bare with me.
1) AirAsia flight tickets: RM530 – this is for 5 people (early booking and fly from LCCT Terminal).
2) Cost from JB-KL-JB : RM340 (Fuel and PLUS highway tol)
3) Hotel Novotel Kota Kinabalu (5 nights): RM1035
4) Other expanses in Kota Kinabalu which include taxi, food, tickets, car rental, fuel, souvenirs etc: RM1650++
Total expenses in Kota Kinabalu trip: RM3,555
So, that’s it. The overall estimation cost is shown above there. Well, it’s OK. At least we’ve explored some areas in Malaysia and this world.
As I mentioned in earlier post, the next trip to Sabah, I’m targeting to conquer Mount Kinabalu and spend 2 nights at Mabul Island near Sipadan Island.

Mabul Island nearby Sipadan… Nice view…huh… very expansive place to stay as well, but it’s worth it.

Just to share and inform that we (me and my family) will be heading to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah this Wednesday. The 5 of us which consists off me, my wife and 3 of my kids will fly with AirAsia from LCCT to Kota Kinabalu. We’ll be in Kota Kinabalu until Monday, that means we will spend 5 nights in KK. We have pre-booked Novotel Hotel to spend all the nights in Kota Kinabalu. Sutera Harbour, KK seems to be enticing destination to spend few nights, facing the South China Sea, but it was fully booked on the time we asked.
Why are we in Kota Kinabalu?
We are going to attend a conference. My wife will be presenting a technical paper of her research in the Symposium of Chemical Engineers, Malaysia (SOMCHE).
Have we been to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah before?
Nope! Not yet. This will be our first time. Frankly, I have no idea and have not yet surveyed interesting destination in Kota Kinabalu. I’ve ask my brother Budeen, who have been in Kota Kinabalu twice yesterday. He did mention about visiting Pulau Manukan, Filipino Market, Pasar Basah, Hot Spring in Kundasang and Pasar Pagi Jumaat. Apart from that, I have no idea on where to go.
Before I google Kota Kinabalu, I hope you can recommend or suggest me good places in Kota Kinabalu to visit. I’ll appreciate any suggestion and opinion.
p/s: I’ll miss Ijad’s coaching session…
