Make Sure You Renew Your Domain On Time!!!
Earlier this morning, after making the Big Swing Opposition entry, I took a shower, got myself ready to bring my family for a nice weekend outing. Being a normal man, I can get myself ready in no time, not like a woman!!! But we need to understand that a woman takes relatively more time to be prepared because they have to apply make-up and get the kids ready as well
OK, back to the story…While waiting the rest to be ready, I check on zakiyamani.com and found the following site appeared…

I refreshed and typed in the domain name again, but still the same site appeared. What the hell is this? I whispered to myself… zaiyamani.com has already been directed to an unknown site. I began to sweat… Then, I checked on when did I purchase zakiyamani.com. To my surprise, I bought it on 8th March 2007. It has been already one year since I got my own dot com and I forgot to renew it. I quickly logged into my Maybank2u account to transfer some cash to my domain provider. How unfortunate because I only have RM16.07 inside my saving account!!! He he… I have slightly more in my Paypal and Adsense account…
So, I moved on to my wife’s CIMB account and transfered the amount of cash required to get my domain back in tact. After transferring the money, I emailed the domain provider and I left the house.
6 hours later, we returned home, exhausted. I swiftly checked zakiyamani.com and to my relief the site has recovered
. Thanks Shuth from SempoiHosting for the quick action. However, I’m quite surprise because I did not receive any reminder. Maybe the reminder was sent but entered the spam area. Well, I don’t know… I’m too tired to dig into the spam area now. The most important thing is zakiyamani.com is now OK.
Some Tips for Domain Owners
Some of you like me have several domains in hand. You’ve purchase those domain names at different time and perhaps from different company as well. It’s a good practice to record all the purchase dates, companies, prices, account numbers and all related details so that our website(s) or blog(s) do not have to face a downtime.
Just imagine if your site has extraordinary traffic and suddenly your visitors could not access your site. Your reputation will be disrupted and new visitors might not return to your site again. Loyal visitors will definitely wonder what happen. some of them will email or contact you to ask what went wrong. Imagine loosing potential dollars from sales and affiliates income from your site in the downtime period!!! How are you going to answer to your client, those who advertise on your site… Thing can get dirtier.
I’ve just compiled a complete record on all my domain names, my hosting, their duration/expiry date, prices, banking account numbers, contact information etc. You should do as well. Some of you might have a better way or recording this. Maybe you can share it with us…
