6 Reasons why we love having Macdonald’s breakfast

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Food Stuff

We now have a new place for breakfast. It has been 3 days back to back that we had our breakfast in Macdonald’s. It is indeed a nice new place to enjoy a peaceful and pleasant breakfast. Our choice is the 24 hours Macdonald’s beside Shell near UTM.

Here are 6 reasons why I love breakfast at Mcdonalds:

1. I can read free newspaper. They serve News Straight Times, The Sun, Harian Metro and Berita Harian. There is one or two Chinese news paper that I could not read…

2. They provide wireless internet. So, after reading newspaper, I can browse check my emails there.

3. The place is cozy , comfortable and relaxing. No doubt with that. We tend to spend extra hours there, eating , chatting, reading newspaper and internet without any interruption.

4. The breakfast options/menu is good and the price is reasonable. I don’t have to buy 2 portions of breakfast for me and my wife. We share it, not because we are stingy, but both of us eat less. Even we share food, sometimes, we have to force ourselves to finish them.

5. Free coffee refill. This is very good for us. A set of breakfast will have a cup of coffee. So, when the coffee is not enough, we can just refill them. The coffee is also tasty and delicious…

6.  Free car park and easy accessibility. This is important. If the car park is not there, it’s going to trouble the customers. The car park is abundantly available and it is just a few steps from the restaurant.

So far, those are the six points I can think off. If any of you can add more on to it, please feel free to say it…

Surviving life without the…

taman-esplanade-kuantan-river-view

As a person who are always hooked to the net, in other word, often staying online, can you stand a day offline? Or 1 week offline? I’m throwing this question to learn and comprehend how extreme netizen like me and you can cope without the magic line (internet connection)? I’ll share my experience on how I managed to overcome the situation, the emotion and strength during this long festive break. I’ll share it later when i reach home and united with my wired broadband… I’m now in Kuantan…

……………………………………………………………………………………………………….

One day after the above entry was written…

Now, I’m in my wife’s supervisor’s house, in Kuantan and the beautiful part is he has streamyx wireless broadband installed in his house. So, I took the opportunity to do some work that I have to do before checking my emails, updating my blog etc. I found that my blog was badly attacked with spam since I was away for 2-3 days from the internet. I hate spam!!! This shows that I need to installed a more powerful plugin to inhibit bad spammers from bombarding my comment box with a dozen of links.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………….

OK, back to the first paragraph above about what to do and how to overcome yourself when you don’t have the magic internet connection with you. This tips do not apply to those who have celcom or maxis wireless broadband… You are always connected to the net whenever you want. People like me don’t have those broadband yet because I already have streamyx at home and also wireless internet at office. But, I do plan to get myself a prepaid broadband soon so I won’t suffer the way I am now… ;)

Allow me to share my experience on how I spent my time and how I managed to leverage my desperation from the the absenteeism of the net.

1. I must be mentally strong :) This is very important. I think I managed that well enough.

2. I use Celcom service from my wife’s hand to stay connected to the internet using your handphone (if your handphone can browse the internet). I chose to surf 1 day (RM6) or 7 days (RM20) and send an SMS to 28882 and wait for further instruction from Celcom. Surfing from the handphone may not be as satisfying compared to surfing on a pc or laptop, but it is still a better alternative rather than not knowing what is happening in my email, Facebook and blog…

3. Now that I don’t have that much time to spend online, I can do some house keeping in my laptop. That simply means clearing what is not needed in my hard disc, sending documents to the most suitable folders and so on. Now, my desktop is clear and I’m happy.

4. I also now can spend more quality time with my kids and family. This can be done via several ways such as watching TV together (done that), brought my family to a mini zoo in Kuantan (done that)… and others… :)

Well that’s it… I’ll still be in Kuantan without the true internet connection till Friday, possibly. After that, then I’ll be in my house in JB and back to business…

Should I get my kids a dedicated laptop and Web 2.0?

Last week, I attended Matlab training with my wife, a training that I organized on behalf of the post graduate society (I’m the post graduate society president in my faculty). My pH.D supervisor also participated in the same training and sat next to my wife. On one of the break during the training, we chit chat about our kids… how our kids are performing in school, how they are progressing etc…

She (my supervisor) highlighted that her son who is in standard 4, is crazy about Farmville. It is difficult to go anywhere because he will always want to get back home, to be online, and work on his farmville in his facebook account. I was amazed that his son has already explored the net and meddle with facebook, uploading photos and videos.

After the training, in our white Proton Exora, on our way back home, I discussed with my wife about our kids. We think it is time for us to seriously expose our kids to the computer and internet. Before this, Ikhwan (standard 2 primary school) and Marsya (6) has been exposed to flash games and youtube. Alya (5) will tagged along with her brother and sister infront of the laptop(s).

Maybe now is the time for Ikhwan to utilize the laptop (or computer) for his early education. There are some online tutorial in the net which we or the school can subscribe. Maybe he can also learn to use google to learn many things, off course with our supervision.

Maybe we should get a dedicated personal computer for the kids…

What do you think? Is it too early?

I cannot focus at home!!!

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

You see, I’m a normal guy with a family, 3 kids, have my own professional career. I’m currently doing my Ph.D studies in semester 2. Yes, it’s still early as Ph.D normally requires 6 semesters. At the same time, I have to settle a consultancy project them I’m in charge off before I started my studies. My research requires me to write technical papers and publish them a lot. Not only in international indexed journal, but also write in book chapters and in magazine as well. That’s seriously not easy, but that’s a challenge I need to overcome.

At the same time, I was elected as the president of Post Graduate Society at my faculty. Wow…another big task and responsibility for me. In my research group, I’m responsible for a few things as well. I run a homestay business with my wife and colleague, which is quite profitable.

My task as a researcher/students occasionally demands me to continue my job at home. That’s the problem!!!

I always bring back my work to home but the problem is I CANNOT do them at home.

Why?

Because, no matter how… I can’t focus on those job at home because my mind and heart will only drive me to my blogs and internet / online activities. For instance, I have to correct and improve my ph.d proposal that I need to submit tomorrow, but I can’t find the strength and the will power to do it. I’ll lose the battle at home… I’ll lose to the desire of creating and establishing my online empire.

Are you facing the same thing? Same problem? Please help me…

3 Money-Making Niche You Can Use in Less Than 5 Minutes

Published by cyza under Make Money, review

Blogging can make money. That’s for sure. Affiliate can make even more money. But the problem is mastering all the skills and techniques to be grow the affiliate business. If you are a regular in Cyza Sector, you’ll notice me mentioning my interest to be involve in internet affiliate business.

Honestly, I must say that, I am struggling to start up my affiliate business. Out of a sudden, I found this program which was just recently launched. It is a speedy way to make money from affiliate business using products from clickbank. After 48 hours analyzing the program and system, I decided to give it a shot. I hope I have luck on this.

Off course there are pro and cons of joining this program.

OK, since I’ve joined this program for about 72 hours already, I’ve test run it a little. I haven’t had the opportunity to spend more time on this as I was stuck with another non-online job.

Pro (Advantage) – in no particular order

  • Set up the sites in just 5 minutes. 6 ready made + 29 possible custom made videos ready to be uploaded to youtube.com
  • Start begin marketing effort using ready made + custom made video (with your domain) right away.
  • Start article marketing right away. 20 articles provided.
  • Video tutorial and ebook on how to make videos + other traffic methods are available. Hence making amateur people like me can learn all these available powerful traffic techniques immediately.
  • Do NOT need auto-responder.
  • NO need to think of auto-responder sequence – as the system will do the job for you.
  • NO need to do niche research.
  • All we have to do is marketing and wait for the Clickbank income.
  • Every month, members will get a new clickbank product on anonymous niche to promote.
  • For the first month (now, if you register fast), you’ll get 3 fantastic niches. I’ve begin promoting.
  • The system is – I can say Automatic or almost Automatic.

Cons (Disadvantage) – I can see right now 2 cons:

  • We promote our site but we cannot collect the email list.
  • Possible competition with other members if we don’t market creative enough.

Personal view

For me it is tricky and will take relatively longer time to master the affiliate skills despite of reading and mentoring with Affiliate Gurus. However, to taste international affiliate profit faster, I decided to be a member of this plug and play program. I can easily set up my site in truly 5 minutes. And after 12-15 minutes, I already have 3 powerful niche sites. The next thing for me to do is to brand my video, upload them and do some article marketing. That’s the marketing part. It’s all ready for me. The membership price for founding member is USD29 per month, which I think is reasonable (only for the first batch). I heard today that there are only 12 spots left for this membership price. If I can manage 2 sales a month, the commission is more than enough to cover my fixed monthly membership fees. But, I’m going to target more sales. I’m going to try at least to get USD500 per month for a start. Wish me luck…

If you are interested, you can investigate more by clicking the READY-NICHE-PROFIT below. I’m not asking you to get hold of this program. I’m just sharing what I’m doing now with you. I know, some of you are just like me, wanting to run an affiliate business, but for some reason, stuck somewhere… Good luck… :)

Example of video that I just re-brand from the membership area to promote my site:

D-Link Wireless Router in Action in My House

Published by zaki under Uncategorized

set up wireless router

Since I bought a new laptop last month, I added to my collection, a new so called gadget – “wireless router”, in order to (1) reduce messy confusing wires in my house and (2) enable both laptops (me & my wife’s) online at the same time.

After work, I went to Citect IT shop at Taman Universiti, Skudai and asked for the wireless router since I already have the broadband streamyx modem. The not really friendly guy behind the counter offered me Aztech and D-Link. I asked to check on the D-Link wireless router. To be honest, I have very little comprehension and knowledge about the wireless router. I have seen one of the D-Link models at my brother’s apartment and I was very pleased with the signal and performance. Hence, from brother’s recommendation, I chose D-Link DIR-300 wireless G router and paid MYR135 for it.

The router has high speed Wireless LAN connection and support both IEEE 802.11b and 802.11g. It can go up to 54Mbps with wireless G series. As most other wireless router, the internet connection can be shared with 4 build in port switch.

wireless-ap-network

At home, without further delay, I immediately opened the box and worked on the installation together with my other half. We followed the step by step guide in the CD installer and after about 30 minutes, we were done. Both of the laptops were connected to the wireless router and broadband modem. We were very delighted after successfully installing the wireless router. However, we noticed that our line is still not yet secured. I have to figure out how to set the security and password. So far, I have not yet search on how to set the security and password. Anybody want guide me? You can save me some time researching it in Google….

Wireless Router

After this I’m aiming for wireless mouse and wireless printer. I wonder if there is wireless power supply for the laptop!!?? What about you? What will be your next gadget?

My Blogging Tools

Published by zaki under Uncategorized

work space

You don’t need to have a lot of equipments/gadgets to launch and maintain your blog or website. I myself run my blog from just one little corner inside my master bedroom (my work cubicle!). Initially I began with just a broadband connection, a laptop, a free blogger.com platform account, no blogging skills, zero blogging techniques knowledge, a family digital camera, a high hope and belief, a lot of hard work and sacrifice. A few months later, after further digging, exploring and learning, I decided to blog using wordpress with my own domain and hosting. Those were the only investments I made so far.

That laptop and the broadband connection are the only equipment and service I used up till today. I still don’t have a printer, scanner or other latest tech gadgets. More impressively, I also know some bloggers who do not even have a computer and blog from the cyber café or library. Wow!!!….that’s pretty hard to beat.

I’m planning to get a new PC to cope up with my blogging. On top of that, I hope to get a 4 in 1 printer, a new digital camera and a router to support my growing activities. Maybe I’ll get them in the second quarter next year. What about you? What’s your blogging tools/equipments?
