Blog! What is your approch?

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Make Money

kotarayaWithout doubt blogging has emerged as a very powerful tool for people not only to express themselves but also to make money online. Many of them started blogging without realizing the enormous potential that can be achieved financially. I’ve started blogging since the 3rd quarter of  2006 and honestly I just blog to share and ramble about my chemical engineering knowledge.

Day after day, my blog gained popularity and enjoyed spicy organic traffic from uncle Google. Soon, I discovered the opportunity of making money via blogging, which at that time was an alien to me. Since that moment, I never turn back. I keep learning and exploring more creative and innovative ways of making money through blogging. Though I don’t make hell a lot of cash via blogging, but hey…I still earn more than double what I’m paying my maid. That’s when I wrote a short Malay report called “Teknik RM1000 sebulan” which was released end 2009.

I then explored and find other ways on how I can increase my blog earning. That’s when I attended Smart Blogging Seminar conducted by problogger Rohaizad. In that seminar, I learned new ways of making money officially and in-officially from niche blogs. Shortly after that seminar, within less than a month, I managed to cover back the fee that
I paid to attend to that seminar which was RM400. I basically applied the technique and knowledge I obtained from the seminar.

8 months after that, to be exact, yesterday, I start thinking… What is my blogging direction?

I have about 3 dozens of blogs but my income is not beyond 3k yet!!! I need to do something. I need to change my blogging approach. I re-visited 2 blogs which once I occasionally visited while I was not tight up with experiments and re-search, Johnchow.com and Hongkiat.com. I carefully analyze their blogs. I checked the advertisement section and
do some fast calculation. Hey…this guy is earning more than $40k per month just from a blog called johnchow.com while the other guy is earning more than $4.5k per month just from his blog Hongkiat.com. If you are like me, dwelling in Malaysia, just do the maths. This Hong Kiat guy is earning more than RM12k per month, almost as equal to a professor’s salary in a public university. Just imagine how much John Chow is earning in Ringgit Malaysia? Multiply $40k with 3.14 = ……….. ?

So, I need to strategize. Should I split and divide my time to entertain 30+ niche blogs that I presently own and earn quite less OR focus on a minimum of 3 blogs ONLY and try to earn >$3k  per month? That’s more than RM10k per month!!!

It’s not really a huge decision, but still I need to make a decision, especially in this moment where I’m tied up with my research study.

So, what about you? If you are an expert, amateur or beginner blogger, you can also look at this angle. If you are problogger (chances are NO problogger will be reading my blog), you have nothing to think from this plain entry of mine because you’ve earn substantially handsome from your blogging or online property.

If you are a beginner and would like to have my opinion, then read the tips below:

  1. Build a blog using your own domain and host the blog somewhere reliable.
  2. Don’t use the free blogspot.com or wordpress.com.
  3. Focus on creating yummy unique useful content everyday. It’s only one blog, so spend at least 30 minutes a day on your baby blog.
  4. Build credibility and trust from your readers.
  5. Focus on backlink as well, do lots of blog commenting.

What will happen then?

Your blog will grow bigger and more people will be following your blog.

That will be the time where you can start your own advertising space. Hmmm… What do you think of that?

Ball is round, anything can happen…

Believe it or not, the clock is showing 5.22 am now and I’m not sleeping yet. Yes, it is World Cup season and I just witnessed some unexpected and sad drama just now. We (me and my wife) watched the mighty Brazil defeated by underdog orange Dutch. What an amazing result, but why the heck not…. This world cup has been serving us with tremendous surprises!!!

After that I continued surfing the net, explored few sites, entered and posted in a forum (not making money forum, instead I lingered in a chemical engineering forum) and checked on my blogs. My other half just sigh, looking at her husband’s focusing and staring at the laptop…haha… Then the next game started, African sole representative, Ghana versus South American side, Uruguay. It was I can say not an interesting match at the beginning, but towards the end of the 1st half, a long range wonder struck by Ghana’s player (I forgot his name) gave Ghana an early lead. 10 minutes after the second half, ex-Manchester United striker, Diego Forlan volleyed a superb free kick into Ghana’s goal, leveling the score to 1-1.

The real drama was really at the dying minute of the extra time when Luis Soarez, Uruguay’s striker wearing jersy #9 who have so far scored 4 goals in the world cup campaign, stopped the ball from crossing the goal post using his hand (he forgot that he was not a goal keeper!!!) and saw red. Penalty was awarded and it was surely going to be Ghana’s way should Gyan scored it. It was God’s fate that Gyan shot the top center of the cross bar, denying Ghana both a goal and a semi-final spot. Oh gosh!!! What a missed and what a chance!!!

So, the outcome were be decided from penalty kick and Ghana lost the battle. What a pity. They had their precious golden chance in a minute but few moments after that they were doomed. Well, this is football. This is the drama. We are the spectators. We witness the joy and we see sadness. We feel happy and we feel sad. For me, all this while I only supported the underdogs in the match. So, in this situation, the underdog was Ghana, which rank lower than Uruguay. I just pity them, pity Gyan, pity the players and coach, pity the entire supporters and their country.

It’s now 5.44 am, and I’ll stop typing in a short while and will hit the bed. Ops…before that, I’ll perform my Subuh prayer.

Moral of the story:

The ball is round in shape. Anything can happen no matter how hard we work or how much we pray. God knows the best for us. What we have to do is work consistently and diligently as such that we will live our lives for the next 1,000 years.  At the same time, we need to pray and worship our God such that we will die the next day.

So, you and me, we need to work hard and stay focus in what we do. So, if you are focusing in making money from blogs, than do it right. If you want to flip websites, than do it. If you want to perform Hajj at 40, then adjust and prepare yourself for that. All of it require perfect planning and execution. OK, I need to stop now. I don’t know where I will end if I keep on typing here…haha…

In the mean time, in case you are interested to win an Ipad and earn substantial dollar cash, here is a contest launched by Revresponse. Check out the details and I believe you can do that by registering an account with them first if you have not own one yet. I have been making money with Revresponse on a monthly basis and it is seriously very rewarding.

OK, now it’s actually 6.10 am… and I’m really going to stop, shut off this white Toshiba laptop.

The Best Paypal Guide Book

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Make Money

This is a must have information product if you intend to make money online. It is written by a good friend of mine, Smartzul. The book is written in Malay Language. Hence, it is suitable for Malaysian people only. However, if you are not from Malaysia but can read Malay language, why the heck not…

Personally, I’ve read the ebook and that’s the reason I highlighted that this is a MUST have product. Despite of my 2 to 3 years of experiences sending, receiving, get paid etc via paypal, I still don’t know many other things. So, I can say that this ebook is very useful and affordable. The explanation below, which is explained in Malay language, will briefly explain a little bit information extracted from the ebook package. Yep, not only ebook, you’ll get several videos to further establish your comprehension on Paypal.

…………………………………………………………………………………………………

Sebab 2: Langkah demi langkah

Tidak berguna sesebuah bahan informasi jika ia hanya sekadar celoteh sahaja tanpa menunjukkan bagaimana melakukannya. Ebook Panduan Asas Paypal adalah ebook “How To”, selain penerangan ringkas.

Sebab 4: Video penerangan ringkas

Tetapi cukup empat dahulu.

7 Tips to create a better blog and blog post.

durian4

If you are new in the blogging world and have bigger plans to earn money from blogging in the future, than here are some simple and useful tips that you can apply while writing your post and publishing them:

1. Try to blog in English if you plan to have wider monetization method. Unless your target is local audience and you have other huge plan such as covering local gossips and entertainment industry, you can blog in your own mother tongue language.

2. Write unique blog post. It might be tough to write by yourself in English, but remember the saying… practice make perfect!!! So, keep on writing (or typing) your niche articles in English. Don’t worry about your English level. Just do it (using Nike’s motto). You’ll get better and better in future.

3. Fill up and label appropriate categories. This is imperative for several reasons. It will be easier for your readers to select which topic he or she prefers to read in your blog. Besides that, it is good for optimization strategy in attracting the crawler or spider from the search engines. There are also making money programs that look at how you arrange your categories in order to allow them to give you more payments.

4. Fill up the “Tags” as well. This will also assist into some unknown level towards better positioning in the Search Engine Result Page (SERP). Just like the previous point, some advertiser or make money program love blogs that have more tags. This will allow more pages in your blog to be indexed.

5. Post on a consistent basis!!! This is very important. Let your readers know what is your pace. You don’t need to inform them officially in your blog saying “I blog once a week” or “I blog 3 times a week”. That is not necessary. It is ample that you set your own pace and blog according to your time. If you can blog twice a week, then stick to it. If you have more times to spend and you think you can blog everyday, than by all means, stick to once a day. Just be consistent. You don’t want to blog like crazy on a daily basis and suddenly you forgot to update your blog for 2 weeks. This will put off your audience. If you are going for a dream vacation, use the schedule posting feature inside Wordpress. The new Blogger.com also has this feature embedded.

6. Learn how to use good keywords in your title and blog post. This is one of the critical parameters to ensure that your blogpost is better identified by the crawler and sits comfortably in good SERP position. Let say your niche blog  is about Nokia handphone and you want to blog about their battery. Think of the most suitable rich keyword that relates your niche with the point you are going to elaborate in your blogpost. Perhaps “Nokia handphone battery charger” is a good choice. Let that be your title. In your blog post, mention the same keyword about 3 to 5 times. This can make your blog post shoot up to the top of the SERP for that particular keyword!!!

7. Include nice beautiful photo(s) in your blog post. The photo might not be related but it is acts as a decorative art for your blog, just like the photo frame on your house wall. If it is related, then that’s even better. I will always try to include whatever photo on my blog post nowadays to attract new comers attention. This tip was given to me personally by HujanBatu.com. Thanks bro.

Hmm… I guess that’s it for now. I hope the tips are helpful and can move your blog to another level.

Engineer Your Success

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Make Money

Last Satuday night, my family was invited to attend a “kenduri” at a neighbour’s house. After Isya’ prayer in the “surau” in front of my house, we went to the “kenduri”. My wife and kids have earlier went to the house which hosted the kenduri (female and kids after Magrib) while all the male counterpart turn is after Isya’.

I noticed a person that I really admire and I wanted to get closer with. I prayed Isya’ next to him in the surau earlier. He lives in the same street as me but in a corner lot house. He graduated as a mechanical engineer (not sure from where) but now he is a successful business man. His name is Hj. Razak. I’m not sure of his full name yet.

So, after taking my food, I sat at a corner of a table arranged in the kenduri. Hj. Razak arrived soon and sat at the same corner. So, the 2 of us are there and this is my opportunity to get to know him better. The rest of the guys sat in different table.

We chatted and get to know each other. He knows that I’m currently pursuing my Ph.D in Chemical Engineering and will go for a research attachment overseas soon. I asked him about his business. He is running a mechanical engineering service business. He started his business when he was 34 years old (the same age as me now). At 40 years old he reached millionaire status which is something to be proud of. Now he is 44 years old and slower down his working pace because he etablished the business to work for him already.

He told me, when we started his business a decade ago, he will go out from his house at 7 am and return home at night. He seeks for leads and opportunities where he can provide his engineering services. He worked so hard. He used his engineering knowledge, the one that he knows the best. He focused on this business because he has failed several times with other business that he don’t have knowledge and skill off. He said to me, if you want to be rich, you need to read “buku Daim Zainuddin”. The book title sounds something like “becoming a millionaire”, but I can’t be certain on the exact title of the book.

I was really amazed with his story and I’m proud to know somebody like Hj. Razak. He is a nice guy, low profile, kind, not arrogant at all. There are a lot of positive attributes that I need to learn from him.

Let me share some points that he highlighted to me:

1. Work hard before you reach success.

2. Focus on what you know to run the business and avoid running the business in something you don’t know.

3. Don’t get too excited when you see huge money. Don’t buy luxurious items with those money. Use it to grow your business first before you spend it.

4. Master outsourcing. In a business, we can’t do everything on our own. Hence, we need to have subcontractors to help us do some of the important work. We need to get hold of the outsourcing skill.

5. From time to time, give away your money for charity or sedekah. This is important to get our Gods blessing and too purify your wealth. Do it sincerely and wait for a miracle that God will send to you.

Well, those are just a few points that I can recall. Even if you are a student or an employee, like me, we still can be a millionaire with the correct attitude, mindset and goal. It doesn’t matter what type of business… blogging… internet marketer, creating, selling and marketing products and services.

Any comments?

I wish I can get this email everyday!!!

Published by cyza under Make Money

Two days ago, I received a message in my email as shown below:

Ad Sold Action Required

Cyza,

We have sold some inventory off of one of your sites. You have selected to place ads manually on your site so if you could please visit “http://www.text-link-ads.com/r/publisher/approve_ads/” to complete or deny the new ads in the next 24 hours it would be greatly appreciated.

*Please note if you do not post your ad within 72 hours of this email the Text Link Ads the ad will be cancelled. If this happens 3 times you will be removed from the marketplace. Thanks again!

Is it wonderful if we can get such email on a daily basis. I can be one of the happiest guy on earth. Yes, money is not everything, but it help and smoothen various things. After reading the email, I immediately login into my TLA account and was supprized to see an advertiser has chose to buy a link on a niche blogspot.com blog of mine that I just registered 4 weeks ago.  The amount is not that big but importantly, I get it on a monthly basis, as long as the advertiser is happy to place the link on my blog.

As a part time blogger hunger for additional monthly financial reinforcement, this is among the ways how we can do it. Of course we need to work hard in the beginning but when the blogs are established, there’s no turning back. It’s about getting advertisers rushing to you and begging you to place their links and ads inside your web space. There’s nothing much to do on our site accept minor maintenance (publishing post once in a while).

Text link Ads is one of my favourite way of earning passive monthly income besides TNX, Adsense, Revresponse, Linkworth and others. If you have an army of blogs, what you need to is put great content and improve your blog PR besides enhancing the backlinks of your blogs.

The formula is simply:

Great content + huge backlinks + high PR = $$$

Hence, if you have 10 blogs, the formula will be:

(Great content + huge backlinks + high PR = $$$ ) multiply by 10

What if you get those income on monthly basis?

[(Great content + huge backlinks + high PR = $$$ ) multiply by 10]/month

Take note that great unique content will boost up your SEO and SERP. That is crucial for blog owners. So, if you are like me, somebody who love his career, you can enjoy double income, your monthly salary + your online blogging income.

Good luck to you and me… :)

Cyza Sector’s Blogging Direction

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring

bradforduni

Cyza Sector is created for me to muse about anything. However, something inside me occasionally whisper to make this blog a make money online niche. Sometimes, I thought of realizing and focus my blogging on that saturated niche. However, being a person who loved to share stories, I strongly believe I can’t stick to that plan. Hence, I should not make this blog limited to the make money online niche. I will and continue share my stories on my life with my beloved families and what is happening around me.

I think it would be interesting to share stories like our first experience watching live theater in Dewan Jubli Intan, Johor Bahru last Friday evening, exercise in the gym and playing volleyball yesterday morning in Kolej Tun Fatimah, UTM, hanging out together with my younger brothers, Budeen and Adi and share with them my experiences on making money online, comparing my Proton Exora with Budeen’s brand new Perodua Alza and after that ordered a Pizza Hut home delivery Pizza. I’m not going to share it now, but that’s just some example of my personal activities that I love to share in this blog.

Life is very interesting and exciting. We experience planned activities and unexpected moments. It’s good to share them and in return maybe we can create more friends. That will be my direction for Cyza Sector. To be a blog and platform for me to share everything (as long as it is not too private) which also include my make money online experiences.

For now, I’m happy with what I have. At the same time, I’m focusing on my short, medium and long term goals. Those targets need to be there to drive and motivate us achieve something  better. If you ask me, I have too many goals to achieve both off-line and on-line. I just need to discipline myself and execute one after another. Oh God, please help me to deliver and complete all tasks and achieve my goals.

Another Paypal payment

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Make Money

What a feeling? On a sunshiny Friday, I received a payment from netline. This is just another payment that I regularly received from what we call CPA program. For you information, I barely spend my time promoting this program. I’m more focus on other making money program such as PPC and link sales compared to CPA. So, getting a CPA income for me is additional bonus.

What is CPA program?

CPA stands for “Cost per action”. It means you will basically get paid when your blog readers or anybody who click on a CPA link made an action to register to get a product or service. Once the registration is successful, you will get rewarded. In this case, without realizing the concept of CPA, I have registered more than 1 and half years ago with netline. Sometimes I call it Revresponse. If you are interested with this program, you check it out here.

Facebook versus your own blog

Published by cyza under Blogging ~ Sharring, Make Money

facebook

Do you have a Facebook account? I believe yes. Most of those in the online community like you and me have a Facebook account. A lot of those utilizing Facebook like to share experiences, status, photos, videos, quotes, opinions etc in Facebook. When I ask my wife who is a regular in Facebook, she fancy reading the status of her friends and  see the photos being uploaded. Others like to play games such as Farmville and other games that I’m not familiar with at all.

There are also users who have a Facebook account but rarely keep updates in Facebook. I belong to that category. Honestly, I have better things to do rather than spending my time in Facebook reading other people status. Please, don’t get me wrong. I’m not condemning those Facebook enthusiast. I still read other people’s status when I’m in Facebook, but not that often. I’m just prioritizing my time because I have studies and research to do, consultation works to dwell with, blogs to take care, family to be with and others.

My moderate Facebook activity

I’ll normally log into my Facebook account when somebody tagged me. I’ll be curious and log in to check out why I’m tagged. Normally, I’ll leave comments if it is necessary and to interact with others. In other occasions, I’ll log in once in a while, maybe around 3-5 times a week. I rarely leave my status, check my notifications and messages. Currently I have 50+ notification and 60+ messages which I don’t read. So, please don’t send me messages on my Facebook (because I don’t read it). I prefer communication via email. I’ll normally accept friends in bulk process which means, I’ll allocated once a month to accept those who want to be friend’s with me. I normally won’t accept recommended friends by others. It’s better if those people sincerely want to be friends with me.

Should you focus on Blog or Facebook?

If one like to share, I strongly believe it is better to share stories, activities and anything in a blog rather then Facebook. Why?

1. Total control

You have total control in your own hosted blog. You can back up your blog and its content and keep it. You may not have total control in your Facebook account. Can you back up your facebook? It is better to have something that we have total control. Isn’t it?

2. Make money potential

You spend time online sharing this and that. Why not work smart and make money in one shot. This can be done if you have a blog. You spend countless hours writing in your blog and your visitors (loyal and first timer) read them. At the same time, you can add in advertisements and enjoy the money from it. Can you do this with Facebook? You can share this and that, but you cannot place your own advertisement codes from any make money program inside your Facebook page. However, Facebook is a good place to market your products, services, blogs and websites. It can be a powerful marketting tool but not make money. So, you can promote your blog via Facebook.

Think about it…

So, it’s your call. I’m not an expert to say which is best for you or me. Those 2 points mentioned above are just two issues that I found crucial because it involves time and money. If you opt to spend more times sharing in ablog, you need to invest little money to get your own domain and hosting; and a lot of time building the blog, but the rewards may be sweet. If you blog with a free platform such as blogspot.com or wordpress.com, you still don’t have the total control. However, using blogspot.com, you can place advertisements in your blog and wait for money rolling to you.

Facebook is a free account. You are free to share anything, make friends and build massive networks. You can continue sharing your updates, status etc. You can also create groups and start various activities include playing games.  If you are not inclined to making money online and the hassle to manage a self hosted blog, then by all means, continue  being an active member of Facebook.

My Stand

I’ll keep my account in Facebook. I use Facebook to keep up with other friends activity once in a while. I use Facebook as one of my marketing strategies for some of my blogs. It has proven to be an important tool and it works well. I also created a group and once in a while communicate within members. The members of the group  keep growing and that’s a good sign because I can send traffic to my blogs by leveraging Facebook efficiently. Estimated percentage of my online time spent on Facebook is around 3-5%.

I’m still focusing on my blogs most of the time. I’m working on to create a residual passive income with my blogs. It works perfectly but of course it needs a lot of time, passion and patients. I prefer spending 4 to 6 years now to establish all my blogs and after that earn a cool 4 to 5 figure monthly income from it.

Conclusion

As a conclusion, both blog and Facebook are very important tools in Web 2.0 in this era. Both have its strong points and it is clever if you can integrate both of them. Focusing ONLY on blog and ONLY on Facebook is considered under utilizing the beauty and power of both of them. With that I rest my case. It’s all up to you… :)

I’m open to listen any idea to improve this blog. I really want it to be a good attractive and informative blog. Alexa do not lie. Hence, I know the level and amount of audience coming and go to Cyza Sector. OK…enough is enough. I must stop and continue my official work (to be done at home).

Before I go, check out the top commentators for January 2010. You deserved to be here… :) Thanks for leaving some colour here.
